MANAGING DIRECTOR - Instructional Spec III 12 Month Salaried

The School of Information at Florida State University is seeking to fill
one (1) 12 month MANAGING DIRECTOR position at the Teaching Faculty III
level. Specific responsibilities may include:

1.HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. Oversees human resource management of
administrative and instructional support personnel, including hiring and
evaluation, disciplinary action, and promotion for all non-faculty
employees. Ensures a cohesive work environment through guidance and
direction of staff across all areas and functions.

2.DATA CURATION AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT. Coordinates and provides quality
assurance for comprehensive data curation and records management policies
and procedures to ensure continuous compliance with university, accreditor,
state, and federal regulations and guidelines.

3.ACCREDITATION, COMPLIANCE, AND POLICY MONITORING. Ensures that federal,
state, university, and accreditor policies and requirements are
communicated to administrative instructional support personnel, and that
the school abides by these policies and fulfills these requirements.

4.BUDGET MANAGEMENT AND FISCAL PLANNING. Assists the director in budget
management and fiscal planning, including: recommending and coordinating
expenditures; overseeing hiring and promotion of staff; preparing budget
proposals to the dean; and assisting in grant-writing activities.

5.EVENTS MANAGEMENT Manages calendaring and coordination of activities,
facilities, and events for the School of Information, including
coordinating extra-curricular activities such as student clubs,
professional association chapters, internships, and job placement support.

6.TEACHING. Has the opportunity to teach up to one course per semester.

Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in library
information science, information technology, or another relevant
discipline, or will hold a Master's or other terminal degree within a
relevant discipline with demonstrated experience in the information field.

The School of Information is one of three academic units within the College
of Communication and Information at Florida State University. The FSU
iSchool offers a Bachelor's degree program with majors in Information
Technology (IT) and Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT);
Master's degree programs in Information Technology and Information; a
post-Master's Specialist degree in Information; and a Ph.D. program in
Information. The iSchool faculty also operate the Social Media Lab, the
iSensor Lab, and are founding partners in FSU's Innovation Hub (iHub), an
innovation center and fab lab/makerspace for teaching and research with
technologies including 3D printing and 3D visualization.

The School of Information began in 1926, was formally founded in 1947, and
is nationally ranked among the top information science graduate schools in
the country. The iSchool's Information Technology Masters' program is
nationally ranked at #7 among graduate IT programs, and the ALA-accredited
Master's in Information is ranked among U.S. News & World Report's Best
Graduate Programs in Library and Information Science at 12th overall, 7th
in Youth Services, and 1st in School Library Media.

School of Information faculty have been awarded over $50 million in
federal, state, local, and foundation research grants, and maintain a
strong connection to the community through various literacy and service

The College of Communication and Information is a member of the iSchools
organization, and has a student population of approximately 1,300
