To be published by IGI-Global in 2020

Proposals Submission Deadline: December 1, 2019

Introduction

With the advancement in globalization, the internet connectivity,
international payment system, logistics and shipping process, the
cross-border e-Commerce industry has been thriving fast since the
establishment of China based e-Commerce site knows as Alibaba.com in 1999.
The most common reason that the consumers purchase from cross-border
e-Commerce sites is that unavailability of specific products and services
in their home countries. About 67% of the global consumers reported that
they purchase from foreign online vendors on the e-Commerce sites because
of having lower price outside their country. And while comparing the
cross-border purchase of tangible goods and services, the report shows that
about 12% and 50% of the global purchases occur on the e-commerce
platforms.
This book would bring the perspectives, issues, reviews and case studies
that are contemporary and specific to cross-border e-Commerce industry. In
this process, the book proposes for incorporating the chapters that would
enhance knowledge of the stakeholders of cross-border e-Commerce. The book
would start with providing an overview of the inception of the cross-border
e-Commerce industry and its future. As the regulations, policies, taxation
system, degree of technology integration, law and logistic frameworks vary
from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, this book would cover their impacts on
the cross-border e-Commerce consumers’ motive, suppliers, pricing, custom
clearance, and marketing strategies. Moreover, the existing theoretical
studies on the cross-border e-Commerce would be reviewed. Furthermore, the
framework and facilities needed for developing a digital logistic system
would be discussed. This book would also provide a guideline on how to
launch a cross-border business and conduct digital marketing targeting the
international online consumers and finally end with some case studies on
how the artificial intelligence, drop-shipping idea and the mega project
like One Belt and One Road initiative by China are facilitating the growth
of cross-border e-Commerce industry.
