Minitrack: Virtual Collaborations for Knowledge Sharing and Learning

Description:
Virtual collaborations can facilitate knowledge sharing and shared understanding to support learning and training. It also provides opportunities to interact with experts or peers to facilitate learning. Virtual environments provide platforms for individuals to collaborate and acquire information in a variety of domains. These environments present new channels to educate others on various topics, as well as learn about a particular domain from others’ knowledge and experiences. Organizations are utilizing virtual collaborations to support knowledge sharing with existing and potential customers, stakeholders, partners, and employees. However, concerns, such as privacy-related issues and performance issues of virtual collaborations, also arise with virtual environments.

Hence, this minitrack seeks to explore the opportunities as well as the issues associated with virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning. We encourage paper submissions that study the development, use, and assessment of virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing in learning and training contexts from a variety of perspectives (e.g., individual, organizational, and international). We welcome papers that study the application of virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning as well as challenge such applications. This minitrack is open to both theoretical and empirical studies, and is open to all research methods (e.g., survey, field study, case study, experimentation).

Potential topics may include (but are not limited to):

  * Development of frameworks for evaluating virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing in learning and training contexts
  * Theoretical models describing the development, use, and assessment of virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning
  * Research on novel, innovative uses of virtual technologies and data analytics for virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning
  * Examinations of implementations, adoptions, and outcomes of virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning along with factors influencing these activities
  * Meta-analyses and meta-syntheses of research and the implications for virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning
  * Issues, limitations, and barriers surrounding virtual collaborations for knowledge sharing and learning

Submission Process:
Paper submissions must be made electronically through AMCIS 2020 Manuscript Submission Site https://new.precisionconference.com/ais. Papers will be peer reviewed using a double-blind system.
