POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN DATA SCIENCE AND DIGITAL ANALYTICS

In collaboration with the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute
(HPE DSI) at the University of Houston, the C.T. Bauer College of Business
at the University of Houston seeks qualified applicants for the HPE DSI
Innovation Fellows program. This is a post-doctoral position in data
science and digital analytics, focusing on one or more area of excellence
that supports the strategic vision of the Bauer College and the HPE DSI.
In particular, we are looking for an outstanding candidate in emerging
areas, such as business analytics (e.g., energy, healthcare), management of
artificial intelligence (e.g., machine and deep learning as applied to
energy or healthcare), and healthcare innovation. The Innovation Fellow
will work collaboratively on research projects from industrial partners and
will spend time at the industrial partner. Depending on the focus area of
research projects, the position will be under the supervision of faculty
members from any of the disciplines in the Bauer College – Finance,
Marketing, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management,
Accounting, and Management and Leadership. In addition to conducting
research, the appointed post-doc will contribute significantly to work on
capstone projects that are required for the Masters of Science degree in
Business Analytics. The duration of the position is one year with the
possibility of a second year based on performance and availability of
funding.

Ideal candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or A.B.D.) in a business or
closely-related discipline and exhibit promise for high-quality research.
Previous participation in grant writing would also be desirable.

The C.T. Bauer College of Business is AACSB accredited with over 5,700
undergraduate and 800 graduate students pursuing BBA, MBA, Executive MBA,
Masters in accountancy, business analytics, finance, energy management,
marketing, management information systems, and supply chain management
degrees; and PhD. The PhD program has seen a substantial uplift in quality
in recent years. Bauer faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research and
research projects; hold doctorates from many of the country’s leading
universities; hold endowed positions; have senior editorial
responsibilities with leading research journals; and have assumed

The Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute (HPE DSI) was founded
in 2017. With a $10 million gift from HPE, the Hewlett Packard Enterprise
Data Science Institute will provide support for UH students, as well as
enhance data science research activities on campus. The HPE DSI, in
collaboration with departments and colleges, leads research, education, and
service activities in the broad area of data science and scientific
computing and their applications. This includes application areas that are
important to the Houston economy: energy and health. Research in data
science will range from foundational research in data science and
scientific computing to key application areas, including UH Research
Thrusts: cyber and physical security, drug development and discovery,
sustainable communities and infrastructure, and accessible and personalized
health care.
