Special Issue on Business Value of Data Analytics

 *Scope and purpose*

The increasing ubiquity of big data and data analytics is transforming
business by changing the way we design, produce and consume products and
services. These shifts have altered business processes and affected entire
industries.

The special issue seeks to publish papers that extend our understanding of
how businesses use data analytics to create value. Potential topics of
interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

   - Empirical studies on the business value of analytics
   - How different types of analytics add business value
   - How big data enables advanced analytics
   - The role of technology staff members in facilitating end-user analytics
   - Potential risks to the organization or to users from business analytics
   - What prevents companies from realizing value from analytics?
   - Existing and emergent organizational structures best suited for
   analytics
   - Which analytics techniques and methods provide the greatest business
   value?
   - Fairness and ethical aspects of using big data and data analytics
   - Novel theories or frameworks that advance the understanding of
   business analytics
   - Will analytics be a tool for disruptive innovation?

Submitted papers must be written in good English and describe original
research that has not been published nor is currently under review by other
journals. Papers will be evaluated based on their originality,
presentation, relevance and contribution to research and development of big
data and data analytics. The guest editors will check the suitability and
scope of each submission before sending it out for peer review. Prospective
authors are welcome to email an abstract to one of the guest editors for
preliminary feedback on the appropriateness of their planned manuscript.
