[AISWorld] Call for papers - Artificial Intelligence: Democracy and Social Impacts

*Call for papers*

The *Center for Artificial Intelligence – C4AI* (c4ai.inova.usp.br) *–*
promotes on December 13th and 14th,  the International Seminar on
Artificial Intelligence: Democracy and Social Impacts. The humanities team
at C4AI, through the committees of this seminar, is pleased to invite
professionals from academia, industry and students to submit papers. The
seminar will be open to anyone who wants to follow live. More information:
c4ai.inova.usp.br/hseminar/2021

*Submit an extended abstract in the call for papers:*
- Deadline for submission of extended abstracts: *June 22nd, 2021*
- Result of approved extended abstracts: *July 22nd, 2021*
- Deadline for submission of the full paper:* November 22nd, 2021*

Accepted papers will be published in the seminar proceedings. At the
discretion of the steering committee, the papers may be published:
- In a book based on the seminar topics.
- In dossier of the journal 'Revista de Estudos Avançados (USP)" (
http://www.iea.usp.br/revista)
- In both cases, the steering committee reserves the right to request
changes in the papers selected for publication and not publish them
(whether in the book or the journal Revista de Estudos Avançados) if the
suggested changes are not satisfactorily met.

Conference Table 1 - *Democracy and artificial intelligence *
- Use of personal data for the purpose of manipulating individuals and
groups
- Artificial intelligence geared towards behavioral targeting advertising
- Protective legislation: the dilemma between respecting freedom of
expression and combating fraud that violates the right to information
- The processes through which private messaging services (e.g. WhatsApp)
have become conduits for invasive political/partisan advertising
- Potential uses of blockchain and artificial intelligence to combat and
contain the disinformation industry

Conference Table 2 - *Ethical artificial intelligence and the ethics of
artificial intelligence *
- Ethics and decision-making in technological interfaces
- Personal data and the right to privacy in the digital world
- Algorithmic surveillance and discrimination
- Corporate ethics and diversity policies in the computerized society
- Transparency and social control over artificial intelligence systems
- Artificial intelligence technologies and inequalities
- Biometrics, facial recognition, and algorithm bias
- Explainability and interpretability

Conference Table 3 - *Artificial intelligence and the future of work *
- Impacts of artificial intelligence on job creation and destruction
- Labor relations in the platform economy
- Legislation and regulation of labor on demand
- Education systems and new demands for professional qualification
- Artificial intelligence and selection bias in professional recruitment
platforms
- The use of artificial intelligence for promoting workplace diversity
