The Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama (UA)
invites applications for a tenure tenure-track Associate or Full Professor
position in Management Information Systems (MIS) or other business
discipline (e.g., Management, Operations Management, Statistics, Marketing,
Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Accounting), with an established
research record or research funding and high quality publications in the
areas of cyber security. This person will ideally also have ties to
external (non-UA) cybersecurity agencies and research institutes. The
position start date is August 16, 2021. Candidates must have completed a
doctorate in their respective discipline or a closely related field by the
start of the appointment.

This position builds on existing strength among the Culverhouse faculty in
cyber security-related research and directly targets the UA research
priority on cyber security with an interdisciplinary approach by
integrating research methodologies present across the college. In addition,
research opportunities involving cyber security intersect with all of the
identified research priorities, but scientific inquiry into the effective
and efficient management of organizational security programs is squarely in
the domains of inquiry consistent with the cybersecurity research
capabilities of the current faculty. Included in this research are the
managerial, financial, logistical, operational, and behavioral elements
that comprise such programs and the infrastructures that support them.
Candidates should well-connected with other cybersecurity research
entities, such as externally located (non-UA) university research
centers/institutes and governmental cybersecurity agencies and are expected
to have a successful track record both in terms of the number of grants
obtained and the dollar value of the research funds generated.

Preferred candidates will have published in journals featured on the
UT-Dallas List, the AIS Senior Scholars List, and/or technical outlets such
as *IEEE Software Engineering* or *Decision Support Systems*. We are open
to all research topics and methods, but prefer candidates whose work
complements ongoing faculty research activity, which
includes cybersecurity, healthcare, systems development and delivery,
software engineering, and data science.

Preferred candidates should also demonstrate evidence of excellence in
undergraduate and/or graduate teaching. Candidates with teaching interests
in software engineering / programming, database management, data
communications, or systems analysis and design are preferred. Having
relevant professional experience is also a desirable trait for candidates.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and achievements.
Prior to hiring, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment
background verification. Applicants must apply online at
https://facultyjobs.ua.edu and include a one-page cover letter, curriculum
vitae, research statement, one or two representative examples of research
papers, evidence of effective teaching, and a list of at least three
references with contact information. Required documents not attached at the
time of application will disqualify application.

The review of applications begins immediately, and applications will be
accepted until the positions are filled. Direct all inquiries to the
search committee chair, Dr. Allen Johnston at ajohnston at cba.ua.edu.

The University of Alabama is an Equal Employment/Equal Educational
Opportunity Institution. All qualified applicants will receive
