State Farm Endowed Chair in Cybersecurity, School of Information Technology, Illinois State University, Normal IL

The School of Information Technology in the College of Applied Science and Technology invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position at the rank of associate or full professor (full professor preferred), with a start date of August 16, 2023.  The successful candidate will be named the State Farm Endowed Chair in Cybersecurity and is expected to lead all aspects (research, education, and outreach) for our Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CD). The Endowed Chair responsibilities come with a reduced teaching load so that the faculty member may coordinate the curriculum, mentor students and colleagues, represent the program to on-campus and external partners, pursue an independent scholarly agenda, and provide leadership related to research and creative activity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the school's designation as a CAE-CD, sustaining strong relationships with industry partners, and leading the cybersecurity faculty in pursuing external grants. The Endowed Chair is appointed for a term of five years with the possibility of renewal.

Qualifications: To be considered, applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of academic leadership as well as strong research accomplishments and teaching success in the fields of cybersecurity or information assurance. The school emphasizes balanced excellence in innovative instruction and research. The successful candidate will have experience coordinating and mentoring undergraduate and master's student research. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.

Salary, Rank, and Tenure: The position is a nine-month tenure track appointment. The salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

The School: The School of Information Technology (it.illinoisstate.edu) is one of eight units in the College of Applied Science and Technology (cast.illinoisstate.edu<http://cast.illinoisstate.edu/>). The school offers undergraduate majors in Computer Science (CS), Cybersecurity, Information Systems (IS), and Computer Networking and two Master of Science programs: Computer Science and Information Systems. The undergraduate Cybersecurity program is certified as a CAE-CD. The undergraduate CS and IS programs are accredited by ABET. The school has approximately 950 undergraduate, 150 graduate students and 25 full-time faculty.
