Call for Nominations for the ACIS 2022 Doctoral Consortium (submission date extended to 17 October 2022)

The ACIS 2022 Doctoral Consortium invites nominations to participate in the consortium to be held over two full days, from Saturday to Sunday, 3 - 4 December 2022. This is an in-person event, so students should apply only if they plan to attend the full Consortium and attend in person. For further details see http://acis.aaisnet.org/acis2022/dc/

About the Consortium

The consortium offers a forum in which PhD students will present their work and obtain feedback on their research from leading scholars in the discipline, get to know peers and their research from other universities, and gain exposure to academic and research career and pathways after the PhD. Our mentors come from diverse backgrounds, serve on editorial boards of leading journals, and have a range of skills and strong methodological credentials that cover the diversity of information systems research.

Important Dates

Deadline for nominations: 11 October 2022 (submission date extended to 17 October 2022)

Notification of acceptance: 1 November 2022

Doctoral Consortium: 3 - 4 December 2022

Eligibility

Ph.D. students currently enrolled in and working on an Information Systems thesis are eligible to be nominated. Participation in the Doctoral Consortium is by invitation only. Students who are mid-way through in the programme or those who have already defended their PhD proposals are encouraged to apply. Those students who have a research design plan in place will tend to benefit more from faculty mentors' guidance than those who are very early in the programme. The focus of the mentors will be on assisting participating students with critiques, and tips on moving their work forward and dealing with traps and pitfalls along the way.

Ideally, candidates should have chosen a theoretical approach and initiated planning or implementation of empirical work, but should have at least six months of work remaining at the time of the consortium. Students who will complete their dissertations by December 2022 will not be accepted.

Guidelines for Nominations

More than one nomination is allowed from any single institution, but we ask that the nominees be ranked. All first-ranked nominees will have an equal chance against other first-ranked or sole nominees. A second-ranked nominee would only be considered after all first-ranked/sole nominees.

Proposal

Nominees are required to submit a research proposal. The proposal should have a maximum of 10 A4 pages (10pt Georgia, single space, including references and appendices but excluding the cover page). The proposal should include a brief description of the context of the research, the research question to be addressed, rationale for the research, an associated summary of key literature, the theoretical foundations of the research, research model and proposed hypotheses (if applicable). It should also describe the proposed or current research method and expected contribution.

A nomination letter from the nominating faculty and a nominee information sheet are also required. Please refer to the consortium website for further details, the submission process and templates.

Important: Students must be nominated by their department/university; self-nominations will not be accepted. A nomination implies that should the student be accepted, they will have the support needed to attend the consortium in person, and participate in all activities.

Registration and Cost
There is no registration fee to attend the consortium. However, all accepted students to the Consortium are encouraged to register for and attend the ACIS 2022 conference, which immediately follows the Consortium. All students will receive a reduced registration rate for the conference.

Submission
All nomination documents must be in English.
Nominee documents must be submitted via https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=acis-2022.
Be sure to choose the "Doctoral Consortium" track.
