The department of Information Systems and Business Analytics at California Statue University, Sacramento is pleased to announce a tenure track position in Management Information Systems.

COLLEGE:

DEPARTMENT:  Information Systems & Business Analytics (MIS Concentration)

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics provides information systems and business analytics courses to the College of Business majors.  The department also provides a Management Information Systems concentration and has recently launched an undergraduate concentration in Business Analytics as well as an MS in Business Analytics.

The Management Information Systems concentration provides the analytical framework and the methodology to analyze, design, implement, and manage complex computer-based information/decision systems.  Information is recognized as a resource of the organization and is the common link binding the elements of the organization together. As organizations grow in size and complexity, the need for better and more timely information and for improved decision-making techniques becomes critical for effective management.

POSITION DETAILS:

The incumbent is expected to provide innovative and cutting-edge teaching and evidence of a strong publication record or potential in Management Information Systems and related fields. It is also expected that the successful candidate will play an active role in maintaining and developing student engagement in Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Base Management, and Business Analytics curriculum; advising, coaching and mentoring students; and serving on department, college, and university-wide committees. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for taking leadership roles in developing new innovative programs, promoting a research environment within the Department, supporting the University, as well as partnerships with the community to enhance the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the region and beyond. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines.

JOB DUTIES:

Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Management Information Systems and curriculum development (e.g., develop new courses, change existing courses) in the discipline. Teaching assignments may include on-line classes and hybrid schedules.
Engage continuously in scholarly activities with an emphasis on the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles.
Provide on-going institutional and community service in the Sacramento region.
Undergraduate and graduate student advising.
Supervise student research done by graduates and undergraduates.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have a Doctorate in a Management Information Systems related discipline. ABD will be considered; however, all requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed by June 2024, to remain eligible for continued employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

A doctorate by June 2023 in a Management Information Systems related discipline, from a business program accredited by AACSB International, AMBA, EQUIS or an equivalent business program accreditation body.
Experience:

A demonstrated record and/or explicit interest in developing relationships with the business community and engaging in projects and/or consulting.
A demonstrated record and/or explicit interest in working with a diverse student population.
Record of, or potential for, research and peer review publications.
Ability to teach and develop online courses in the business curriculum.
Ability to develop graduate and undergraduate research projects/lead graduate and undergraduate teams.
Ability to teach large classes.
Special Knowledge and Abilities:

Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and industry experience in Management Information Systems.
Candidates with teaching and research interests in the following areas will be given preference: Cybersecurity, ERP, Digital Equity, Cloud Computing, Business Intelligence, or Data Management.
