The Department of Information Systems, Management and Marketing is looking for two career-track faculty members to support its growth in the Business Analytics programs. The department has four undergraduate majors, including Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Information Systems or Management or Marketing. The department is planning to launch a Master of Science in Business Analytics program in Fall 2023.

Depending on the initial qualification of the candidates, they could be appointed as Assistant Teaching Professor or Assistant Professor of Practice (see Minimum Qualifications for more detail).

The primary responsibilities for this position include

  *   Teaching courses related to business analytics and (or) operations management each of the fall and spring semesters.
  *   Participating in departmental and college service activities.
  *   Provide career advisement to students.
  *   Engage in a program of intellectual activities or professional qualification requirements in accordance with FCB and AACSB guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

For the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor:

  *   A terminal degree from an AACSB accredited institution with a concentration in business analytics, operations management, information systems, or a related field.
  *   Experience teaching business analytics, operations/supply chain management, or information systems related courses at the college level.
  *   Ability to meet AACSB academic or professional qualification requirements.

For the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice:

  *   Graduate degree from an AACSB accredited institution with a concentration in business analytics, operations management, information systems, or a related field.
  *   Five years of professional experience in business analytics, operations management, or information systems field.
  *   Experience teaching business analytics, operations/supply chain management, or information systems related courses at the college level.
  *   Ability to meet AACSB academic or professional qualification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  *   Experience or background and interest in teaching one or more of the following:
     *   A new business analytics capstone experience class. In this class, students are encouraged to work in teams with industry partners on a comprehensive business analytics project. This capstone course will require students to identify a business problem and solve it using analytical skills. Other important skills include communication, teamwork, presentation and writing. The instructor of the class is expected to facilitate the whole process to ensure the project is well executed.
     *   A core, coordinated operations management class using simulation.
     *   Python programming.
     *   A core introduction to marketing class or other business core courses required in the Business Analytics Major.
     *   A specialized business analytics course.
  *   Demonstrated excellence in teaching with capstone experience or business consulting projects from identifying quality projects to mentoring students to successful project completion either at the undergraduate or graduate level. Excellence should be demonstrated through official student evaluations.
  *   Demonstrated excellence in teaching business analytics or operations management related courses at the college level or graduate level as shown by official student evaluations.
  *   Willingness to teach classes in different modalities, including in-person and online.
  *   Evidence of excellence in working with multicultural constituencies.
  *   Three or more years of full-time teaching experience at the college level and/or five or more years professional experience in operations management or business analytics positions.

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Salary

AACSB competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels for rank and position in keeping with candidate's experience and credentials.

Benefits

This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the Conditions of Faculty Service<http://nau.edu/Provost/Resources-Policies/>. Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment. If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election.
