The Business Information Systems (BIS) Department at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Computer Information Systems and Cybersecurity.
Department Summary:

There are currently 20 full-time (tenured, tenure-track, and term) faculty of two programs, Computer Information Systems and Business Communications. Both programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Department offers three majors: Business Analytics (BA), Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Cybersecurity (CYSC); three minors, Business Analytics (BA), Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Cybersecurity (CYSC); two Graduate Certificates in Business Analytics and Cybersecurity; and a masters in Cybersecurity.

Position #1
Computer Information Systems Position Summary:

The Computer Information Systems department is looking for a new parson to join the team. This position will begin in Fall 2024.
Major Duties:

  *   Teach Computer Information Systems (CIS) courses that support the department’s majors and minors (www.wmich.edu/infosystems/academics<http://www.wmich.edu/infosystems/academics>) and the MBA program.
  *   Conduct and publish scholarly research in peer-reviewed journals.
  *   Advise and mentor students.
  *   Serve on department, college and university committees as needed.
  *   Build and sustain partnerships with professional organizations.
  *   Appropriately maintain AACSB qualification credentials.
Minimum Qualifications:

  *   Doctorate in CIS, IS, MIS, or related field from an AACSB accredited institution (completion by December 31, 2024).
  *   Computer networking and/or cloud computing background through education or work experience.
Desired Qualifications:

  *   Teaching experience with favorable student ratings.
  *   Established record or strong potential for scholarly research.
  *   Teaching/research field preferences: Able to teach/research in the following fields of information systems (i.e., computer networking; cloud computing and services such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud; Programming in Python and/or Java).
  *   Professional Certification in the fields listed above.
  *   Ability or willingness to teach hybrid and/or online courses.

Cybersecurity Position Summary:

Cybersecurity program enrollment is growing, and we are looking for a new person to join our team. This position will begin in Fall 2024. Cybersecurity at WMU is an interdisciplinary program between Computer Information Systems and Computer Science that offers both online and in-person BS, MS, and Graduate Certificate degrees within a HyFlex environment. The new Assistant Professor will teach undergraduate and graduate courses within subject areas they are qualified or interested in developing. Major Duties:

  *   Teaching online, hybrid, and in-person BS and MS courses according to the Department’s and Cybersecurity Program’s needs. New hires normally teach a 3/3 with two course preparations.
  *   Supporting the Department’s Cybersecurity programs (https://wmich.edu/cybersecurity).
  *   Establishing and building a Cybersecurity-focused research and publishing stream.
  *   Collaborating with the Cybersecurity Co-Directors on grant and funding initiatives.
  *   Advising and mentoring BS and MS students.
  *   Working on ABET accreditation processes for assigned CYIS courses.
  *   Serving on department, college, and university committees as needed.
  *   Building and sustaining partnerships with professional organizations.

  *   Appropriately maintaining AACSB qualification credentials.
Minimum Qualifications:

  *   Doctorate in Cybersecurity, Information Security, CIS, MIS, or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution (completion by December 31, 2024).
  *   Cybersecurity background though education or work experience.
Desired Qualifications:

  *   Teaching experience with favorable student ratings.
  *   Teaching experience in an online setting.
  *   Established or strong potential for scholarly research.
  *   Teaching/research field preferences: Able to teach/research in either managerial and/or technical aspects of Cybersecurity.
  *   Technical or Professional Cybersecurity Certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, SANS GIAC).
