The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia seeks outstanding candidates for one tenure-track position in Management Information Systems, beginning July 1, 2024 (Rank Assistant Professor).

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong ability for delivering high-quality, scholarly research, teaching excellence, leadership abilities and service. Special consideration will be given to candidates with scholarly program aligned with MIS research and teaching. Research aligned with Beedie’s strategic priorities of innovation, social responsibility, and a global perspective, is a plus. Of particular interest to the MIS faculty group are candidates with a scholarly program that emphasizes novel business research questions in innovative and cutting-edge domains. Such candidates will also be expected to create original teaching content in these domains, thereby aligning their research and teaching agendas. Candidates should also have the potential to engage with practitioner communities and make an impact on practice through their research. Recruitment decisions will also be influenced by the school’s priorities for diversity and inclusion.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in MIS or a closely related field by the employment start date; however, PhD candidates with solid indication of imminent completion may be hired at the rank of Instructor and will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor upon completion of the PhD.

Duties
The candidate will be expected to teach courses in traditional MIS areas such as Technology Management, Digital Business Strategy, Project Management, Business Database Management, Business Software Development, Information Systems Analysis & Design and Business Analytics, at either undergraduate or graduate levels. The candidate will also be expected to augment these course offerings with content covering recent technological trends and industry needs.

Teaching responsibilities also include regular review of course content covered by part-time faculty as well as coaching and supporting students in experiential activities such as case competitions. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to Beedie’s research and teaching excellence.  In addition, the successful candidate will actively participate in Beedie’s collegial self-governance and offer assistance and guidance to students, peers and the academic community through activities such as committee work, mentorship and experiential learning opportunities.
