Position Summary:
The Department of Information Systems and Technology (www.uvu.edu/ist) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Cybersecurity to begin August 2024.

The cybersecurity faculty member develops and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, such as cybersecurity fundamentals, web and applications security, malware analysis and reverse engineering, ethical hacking, incident response and digital forensics, Internet of Things Cybersecurity, cybersecurity management, network security, cybersecurity laws, cybersecurity operations, and network forensics. The faculty member engages in scholarly activities that contribute to the mission of the university, department, and profession. In addition, the faculty provides service at the department, college, and university levels.

The Information Systems and Technology Department offers a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and will start offering a BS in Cybersecurity in Fall 2024. In addition, the department offers ABET-accredited programs in Information Systems and Information Technology as well as programs in Information Management and Business/Marketing Education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  *   Knowledge of subject matter and course content pertinent to cybersecurity programs
  *   Expertise in frameworks and tools appropriate for upper-division and graduate cybersecurity courses
  *   Knowledge of cybersecurity trends and emerging technologies
  *   Enterprise security solutions design and implementation skills
  *   Excellent organizational and time management skills
  *   Strong program coordination skills
  *   Effective verbal and technical written communication skills
  *   Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  *   Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  *   Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, agency administrators, and community practitioners from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  *   Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in solving problems.
  *   Ability to work independently.
  *   Ability to plan measurable objectives, prepare instructional materials, and follow an approved curriculum.
  *   Ability to assess student work and maintain and submit accurate and current plans, reports, and records involving student accountability, attendance, and performance.
  *   Ability to use a classroom learning management system, such as Canvas.
  *   Ability to conduct scholarship/creative works and service and have teaching interests that align with the cybersecurity discipline.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or ABD in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related academic field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of three years of related cybersecurity teaching, training, and/or industry experience.
Evidence of scholarly research in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at academic or professional conferences.

Physical Requirements:

  *   Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing.
  *   Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer.
