The Director position is a twelve-month administrative position within the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction, with direct reporting responsibilities to the Dean of the College. Candidates for this position must be tenured with the rank of full or associate professor in one of the School of Computing academic programs. The School of Computing offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Science, Information Technology, and Data Science; and graduate programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, and Data Science.

The Director must be committed to leading the School of Computing in strategic planning, which promotes a vision of cohesion in line with the university's strategic plan. The ideal candidate will possess and provide evidence of the following in their application: a record of leadership, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication; an appreciation of the interrelationships between the programs offered by the School and a commitment to their advancement; national presence in their discipline; an ability to grow and advance academic programs; a demonstrable experience to develop doctoral degree program; a strong record of scholarship and commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service; and administrative, managerial, and leadership experiences working with diverse stakeholders.

The Director is the School's representative and spokesperson inside and outside UNF and manages the day-to-day operations of the School. The Director must lead the planning and implementation of major activities related to the School, including faculty development; course scheduling; budget planning and management; ABET accreditation and program assessment; hiring and performing annual evaluations of faculty and staff; promotion and tenure appraisals; curricular development; recruitment; resolution of student issues; community and School's advisory board engagement; best practices in broadening student and faculty participation; and overseeing the School labs and student clubs.
