*** About Dresden and TU Dresden ***

Dresden, the capital of the Free State of Saxony, is situated in the east of Germany at the river Elbe. It is the 12th most populous city in Germany and forms the heart of one of today’s most dynamic economic regions. Dresden is well known for its rich cultural heritage and a remarkable ensemble of originally reconstructed baroque buildings such as the Frauenkirche, the Zwinger, and the Semperoper.

TU Dresden is one of the largest technical universities in Germany and one of the leading and most dynamic research institutions in the country. With 18 Faculties in five Schools, it offers a wide range of degree courses and covers a broad research spectrum. Besides, TU Dresden is one of eleven German Universities of Excellence and one of the few universities that succeeded in all three rounds of the Excellence Initiative funded within the framework of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments since 2019. In addition, TU Dresden is a member of TU9, a consortium of the nine leading German Universities of Technology.
