Multisensory Consumer Experiences in Metaverse
Tampere University, Finland

We are looking for highly motivated researchers, interested in understanding how immersive technologies and information systems (e.g. metaverse, VR, AR, MR and XR) would reshape consumer experience in the service and marketing context. The position is associated with the Business Finland funded research project “MetaMarketing | Consumer Decision-Making in Multisensory and Multiuser Metaverse Marketing”. === Job description ===
* The candidate’s work will be focused on conducting doctoral research within the MetaMarketing project. It is mainly composed of research activities including research planning, data gathering, data analysis, article preparation, dissemination, and publishing. Moreover, the candidate is expected to participate in project-wide research effort and funding acquisition.
* The main task of the Doctoral Researcher will be to work on the development of immersive virtual environments and platforms as well as design and conduct psychological experiments.
* The candidate will be expected to enroll in the Business and Technology Management TOTO doctoral programme at Tampere University. The candidate may start the enrollment to a doctoral program after the candidate has been recruited, and therefore, the candidate does not need to hold a doctoral program position before applying.

=== Requirements ===
The requirements below are the qualities we envision to be suitable for the tasks defined in this project. However, we encourage all candidates from any disciplinary background who see themselves contributing to the project to apply.

Minimum qualifications
* Applicable degree: i.e., university master’s degree or equivalent
* Research interests or expertise in some of the following: Metaverse, Virtual reality, Augmented reality, 3D environment, Game, Gamification, Immersive technology, Virtual media, Retailing, Branding, Advertising, Social media, Consumer behavior, Social psychology, Consumer literacy, Consumer experience, and Cultural dimensions

Applicants are required to possess some of the following abilities
* Design, development & programming skills: e.g., designing and developing VR/AR platforms, 3D gaming environments or 3D modeling and rendering, implementing multimodal interfaces and psychophysiological measurements in virtual environments;
* AND Experiment-based research skill: designing and conducting laboratory or field experiments, conducting psychophysiological measurements and quantitative data analysis;
* OR Qualitative research skill: designing and conducting qualitative research (such as interviews, workshops and focus groups), familiarity with qualitative data analysis

* Good scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills in English (Finnish language skills are not required)

=== We offer ===
* Duration: The position will be filled for a fixed-term period until the end of 2026, with a possibility for extension.
* Starting date: Immediately or as soon as possible. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees.
* Salary: Salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a doctoral researcher is placed on level 2-4 of the job requirements scale. A typical starting salary for a Doctoral Researcher is approximately 2600 € per month. The salary increases based on the progression of doctoral research and studies.
