Mini-track: Centering Diversity Science in Information Systems Research and Teaching

We would like to invite submissions to the Centering Diversity Science in Information Systems Research and Teaching mini track at the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2024 to be held in Salt Lake City Utah.

Program Description
Diversity science is an interdisciplinary field of investigation that uses rigorous empirical methods to examine issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). This mini track welcomes empirical and theoretical research that considers how innovative applications of theories and methods from the field of diversity science can be leveraged to address the lack of inclusion and broaden meaningful and influential participation of populations underrepresented in IS courses, majors, and careers. Underrepresented populations include women, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, military, first-generation students, and those who are socioeconomically challenged.

Potential topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  * Psychological processes and diversity ideologies that impede DEIB progress
  * Creating cultures of inclusion and care in IS classrooms and workplace settings
  * Equitable, inclusive, and effective teaching and learning experiences
  * Equitable access, success, and career pathways
  *   Inclusive mentoring and coaching
  * IS student and faculty recruitment and retention
  * Equitable access and participation in high-impact practices
  * Systems of accountability for achieving equity-focused results
  * Elevating diverse voices in IS research
  * Centering equity and justice in the design of curricula and pedagogy
  * Systems thinking and equity-minded change strategies
  * Leveraging AI and data science to foster a sense of community, belonging, and identity
  * Leveraging chatbots or AI assistants to support institutional and academic tasks
  * Emotions and emotional labor that accompany DEI work
  * Incentivizing, rewarding, and supporting faculty engagement in student success and equity work
