*PostDoc Opportunity: Post-Doctoral Researcher in Generative AI and
Education in the Department of Informatics, University of Pretoria, South
Africa*

Join our groundbreaking research project and contribute to the future of
education! We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral
candidate to be part of our team for a period of 2 years, starting from 1
July 2024 (or earlier if possible). This is a unique opportunity to explore
the potential of Generative AI in supporting the development of critical
thinking and problem-solving skills in students.

*About the Project:*
The project aims to investigate the effectiveness of Generative AI-based
learning environments and personalised instruction in developing
21st-century skills, with a specific focus on critical thinking and
problem-solving. By leveraging the cutting-edge technology of Generative
AI, we seek to revolutionize education and enhance students' abilities to
succeed in the modern workforce.

*Responsibilities:*
As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, you will play a crucial role in the project,
contributing to research design, data collection and analysis, and the
dissemination of findings.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

   - Collaborating with the research team to design and implement
   experiments and studies related to Generative AI and education.
   - Collecting and analyzing data, utilizing both quantitative and
   qualitative research methods.
   - Assisting in the development of Generative AI-based learning
   environments and personalized instruction approaches.
   - Contributing to the ethical considerations and implications of using
   AI in education.
   - Writing research papers and presenting findings at conferences and
   seminars.
   - Providing recommendations for integrating Generative AI into existing
   curriculum and instruction to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving
   skills in students.

*Requirements:*

   - A completed Ph.D. in Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence,
   Education, or a related field.
   - Strong research background with a focus on educational technology, AI,
   or learning sciences.
   - Experience in designing and conducting empirical research studies.
   - Proficiency in data collection and analysis methods.
   - Familiarity with Generative AI or other AI technologies is desirable.
   - Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in
   a research team.
   - Demonstrated ability to publish research findings in reputable
   journals is advantageous.

*Remuneration:*



The successful candidate will receive R250000, computer, travel expenses
grant R15000, conference R5000 once off.
