SPECIAL SCIENTIST (Research) POSITION

Title: Special Scientist
No. of Position(s): 1
Category: Up to 10 months contract
Location: University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus

The Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus, announces one (1) position of
Special Scientist of part time employment (100 hours per month) or full time (140 hours per
month), to work on the starting grant of Dr. Eleni Constantinou.

QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate is expected to be highly-motivated individual to work in a demanding research
environment. Minimum requirements include:
1. Expertise and experience in programming (Python, Java, etc.)
2. Knowledge and experience with software repositories (GitHub and Stack Overflow)
3. Very good knowledge of the English language.
4. MSc and/or PhD will be considered as a plus.
5. Knowledge of software ecosystems (e.g., Maven) will be considered as a plus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will work on research on Mining Software Repositories. The duties
include data gathering from the Maven, Stack Overflow and GitHub repositories and their
analysis. The selected candidate will need to apply statistical methods and data science
methods.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
The position is on a contract basis for either part time (100 hours per month) or full time
(140 hours per month) for 10 months. The monthly gross salary is up to €1733,10
(depending on qualifications and working hours). Employee contributions will be deducted
from the above amount. The position does not include a 13th Salary bonus.

Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should however ensure,
before applying, that in case they are selected they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time

At least the best three candidates that satisfy the required qualifications, will be interviewed
by a 3-member Committee. Candidates shall be informed of the result of their application
