Latin America is showing signs of economic<BR>recovery. The region has grown at
a steady pace, progress is being made on<BR>poverty levels, and higher incomes
have fueled demand for technology which<BR>in turn can have additional benefits
to these countries. At the same time<BR>there is great interest in information
technology and the positive impacts<BR>that these systems and networks can have
on the economy, government and<BR>society. The region is thus well positioned at
this point to take<BR>advantage of ICT to enhance productivity, reach higher
levels of<BR>competitiveness at the global level, improve government services,
and<BR>provide educational opportunities for its population. Latin America is
in<BR>a unique position to provide examples about the adoption of
information<BR>technology in different regional, cultural, and economic
contexts. In this<BR>track we seek to advance the knowledge that scholars
studying the region<BR>have to share about the experiences of companies, the
public and other<BR>segments of society have had with ICTs.<BR><BR>The track
possible topics include: <BR><BR>Electronic commerce in Latin America and its
nations <BR>Electronic government in Latin America and its nations <BR>Economic,
social, or political aspects of information technology <BR>Impact of regulation
on IT development <BR>Digital divide in Latin America <BR>Technology transfer
<BR>Global IT in the region <BR>Systems design and implementation in Latin
America <BR>Information technology in Latin American education <BR>Studies of
information economics <BR>Influence of multinationals on hemispheric IT
<BR>Organizational and behavioral studies <BR>Studies of IT success and failure
<BR>Virtual communities in Latin America <BR>Technical advances and innovation
<BR>IT Outsourcing in Latin America <BR>IT Workforce deficits and training needs
<BR>Quality measures and evaluation of systems <BR>IT in small- and medium-sized
enterprises <BR>Strategic use of information technology <BR>e-Health and its
potential and impact in Latin America<BR>Languages. <BR><BR>Papers can be
submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, or English. Accepted<BR>papers will be
presented and published in the language submitted. Authors<BR>of accepted papers
in Spanish or Portuguese have the option also to send<BR>an English translation
of the final paper, that will be published<BR>alongside the Spanish or
Portuguese version.</FONT></FONT></DIV>
