Introduction
Within the context of integrated health management domains, pharmacoinformatics aims at maximizing the benefits from the use of information systems and technologies for the provision of decision support tools necessary for improved drug management, use and administration practices. Such tools are also used to improve patients’ knowledge about drugs administration and the consequences of adverse drug events. Emphasis over years, continued to be made on computer-based manufacturing applications in the field of drug analysis, testing and production. Little efforts are being directed towards understanding the role of pharmacoinformatics in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of health authorities, pharmacists and other medical staff, patients and the community at large to improve pharmaceutical care. The importance of understanding these dimensions stems from the growing medical and clinical complexities on the one hand, and the outstanding technological improvements witnessed in many hospitals in response to the adoption of e-health paradigms including the use of electronic medical records and integrated hospital management.

Objective of the Book
This book will aim to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings in the area. It will be written for professionals who want to improve their understanding of the strategic role of pharmacoinformatics in the improvement of functional processes and improved awareness, attitudes and communication. The overall objective of the proposed publication is to gather in an integrated pattern high quality publications providing current, current edge and provocative scientific work in the abovementioned three domains of pharmacoinformatics: decision making domains, knowledge utilization and representation environment, and the technological and infrastructural context.

Target Audience
The target audience of this book will be composed of professionals and researchers working in many fields including medicine and health, information and knowledge management, management, communication sciences, administrative sciences, education, media, sociology, computer science, and information technology. Moreover, the book will provide insights and support executives concerned with the management of expertise, knowledge, information and organizational development especially in hospital settings and health planning authorities.
