TRANSITION ECONOMIES<BR></STRONG><BR>Gabor and I would like to invite you to
submit your work to the 'IS in Transition Countries' track of the 19th
European Conference on Information Systems. </FONT><FONT face=Arial>This track
will provide an opportunity to showcase all aspects of information systems
research on Eastern and Central European transition economies. The conference
theme of ‘ICT and sustainable service development’ is prophetic at a time of
tumultuous change in the European transition economies where the rapid diffusion
and use of information and communications technologies during </FONT><FONT
face=Arial>the 1990s and beyond have not always gone hand in hand with economic
growth and stability. We invite papers on all aspects of information
systems research related to European transition countries. We particularly
welcome papers that deal with topics where the national, regional and/or local
context takes on some significance for the study being reported. While
comparative studies on any related topic across some of these countries would be
of special interest, we also seek papers reporting single country studies from
the region. The track invites both full research papers and research in progress
submissions. Themes and topics of interest include, but are not limited to the
