<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3 face="Times New Roman">In recent years, there have been numerous publications showing that women are not attracted to and do not remain in the computing fields. This has serious negative consequences for research and commerce: half of the talent is never used! </FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">The National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT) was established in 2004 to combat this crisis of talent. It is a capacity-building organization, which means that it is meant to help other organizations get more out of the work they are already doing. It is a coalition of over 200 academic institutions, prominent corporations, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase women's participation in information technology.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3 face="Times New Roman">Membership is free and comes with many advantages.</FONT></P>
