<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New";color:black">The Doctoral Consortium of the
International Conference on Information Systems will be held from the evening
of Wednesday, November 30 through the morning of Saturday, December 3 at Fudan
University’s School of Management. </span><span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Since
the 1980s, the Consortium has provided students who are doing their doctoral
dissertations with the chance to present and obtain comments on their research,
to hear about the work of their peers at other universities, and to gain an
understanding of what academic and research careers are all about. It also
offers students opportunities to make new friendships with other students and
leading faculty around the globe.<span style="color:black"></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New";color:black"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New";color:black">The co-chairs of the 2011 ICIS Doctoral
Consortium are Professors Robert J. Kauffman and Jae-Kyu Lee. In addition, ten outstanding
faculty mentors representing the global community of Association for
Information Systems scholars will be participating. </span><span style="mso-bidi-font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Courier New";color:black"></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Participation in the ICIS Doctoral Consortium
is by invitation only. AIS member universities may submit only one nominated
student for consideration. An exception is when different units in a university
hold separate AIS memberships. Then each unit is permitted to submit a separate
nominee. <span style="color:black"></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Ph.D. students currently working on IS
dissertations are eligible to make a submission if they are nominated.
Nominated candidates should intend to pursue an academic career in IS following
the completion of their Ph.D. studies. Candidates also must successfully defend
their dissertation proposals before they attend the Doctoral Consortium in
December, although they need not have done this prior to the submission
deadline in May. Students who plan to defend their dissertations prior to
mid-December 2011 should not apply, and those who end up completing their
dissertations before the Consortium will not be permitted to participate.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New"">The Consortium is designed as an intensive “in-residence”
personal development experience. Thus, participants must not bring guests or
family members to the event, and they should plan to stay at the hotel
associated with the event. Students who are selected to participate in the
Consortium will be given instructions on how to prepare their research papers
for presentation during the Consortium. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New"">Each student selected for the Consortium is expected
to attend all of its meetings and activities, from the opening on Wednesday
evening to the closing on Saturday morning. Candidates who are not able to make
this time commitment should not apply. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Courier New";color:black">Prospective candidates are
encouraged to submit their materials for selection to the Doctoral Consortium. Additional
