<p class="MsoNoSpacing">For the past 50 years, ACM SIGMIS CPR has engaged the
academic and practitioner communities in understanding issues pertaining to
supply of information technology (IT) professionals, demand for their skills
and talents, and their readiness for the workplace. Many issues have evolved
and matured with changes in technology, organizational valuation of IT,
globalization, and economic downturns and upswings. The past 50 years of CPR
has witnessed several generations of IT professionals who underwent this cycle
of preparation, recruitment, and retention. As baby boomers retire, a new
generation of IT professionals presents yet another set of opportunities and
challenges for continued research. What have we learned in the past 50 years?
What do we envision as emerging issues for the next 50? On its 50th
anniversary, SIG-MIS CPR aims to reflect upon these contributions to theory and

Consortium:</b></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing">A doctoral consortium will take place on the day prior to
the conference. The consortium is targeted at students in early stages of
dissertation proposal-writing on topics pertaining to CPR to: 1) provide
feedback and guidance on proposals in stages where feedback can be beneficial
for future dissertation work and 2) provide mentoring and networking
opportunities to students.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Doctoral
students must be nominated to the consortium by a PhD advisor. Nominated
students should submit a 10-page research proposal (including all text, figures,
and references) to be reviewed by a panel of highly qualified senior faculty
mentors. The 3-5 students selected to participate in the doctoral consortium
will receive two rounds of written feedback on their proposal.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Each student will have 40-60 minutes to
present their research ideas and receive feedback in-person from six-to-eight
experienced CPR researchers. Due date for consortium submissions is same as for
papers. A limited number of travel grants are available, requests for which
must be submitted to Dr. Michael Gallivan (MGallivan@gsu.edu). Non-presenting
doctoral students are highly encouraged to participate. </p>
