Information systems in hotels, restaurants, airlines, recreational tour operators, and other facets of service industry are no longer viewed as a cost center, rather a strategic tool. New business models and developments in hospitality/service industries such as global online travel agencies, tourism operations, merchant model, and distribution models created a huge demand for research in particular IS area.
