<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><b>CALL FOR PAPERS</b><br><br><b>18th AMCIS</b>, August 9 - 12, 2012, Seattle, Washington, USA<br><b>Mini-track: Cybercrime and IT Misuse</b><br><b>Deadline</b>: March 1st (PST)<br><br>We invite you to participate in mini-track “Cybercrime and IT Misuse” scheduled for the 18th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS).<br><br>This minitrack aims to encourage research that provides insights into the issue of cybercrime and IT misuse. The cybercriminal activities are rapidly evolving, with new techniques being developed and exploited by hackers worldwide. The cybercrime involving lone hackers has evolved to growing participation of organized crime groups. There is increasing industrialization of cybercriminal activities with some hacking groups allocating dedicated budgets for research and development. In the past, hackers may have attacked for fun, notoriety, or to challenge themselves. However, financial motivations are key consideration nowadays. Organizations are also witnessing constant IT misuse by insiders leading to significant security issues. As cybercrime continues to increase, we need a greater understanding of ways to de-incentivize the impetus which drives individuals and groups to commit these crimes. The worldwide nature of cybercrime also involves significant issues related to development of effective laws and cooperation across international boundaries. There appears to be a need for research into cybercrime activities, their causes, and possible solutions.<br><br>We solicit promising papers that will enhance our understanding of cybercrime and IT misuse. Few topics of interest include (but not limited to):<br>· Understanding cybercrime activities<br>· Hacker motivations<br>· Technical-social aspects of cybercrime<br>· Legal challenges to cybercrime<br>· Cybercrime and societal implications<br>· Understanding IT misuse<br>· Ethical aspects of IT misuse<br>· IT misuse detection and investigation<br>· Organizational countermeasures to prevent IT misuse<br><br>We encourage you to submit a paper to this mini-track. This mini-track is offered under “<b>Information Systems Security, Assurance, and Privacy</b>” track.
