Today for-profit corporations, non-profit organizations, and<br>governmental agencies are leveraging IS to connect with the crowd for a<br>variety of different purposes. Additionally, completely new business models<br>are emerging that rely on sustained engagement from a vast, unknown<br>user population. Williams<br>Elena Karahanna<br>Larry Seligman<br>E-satisfaction, defined in this study as overall satisfaction with an e-vendor's website, is considered an important factor in encouraging loyalty to that site. Yet, to date, findings have varied tremendously, in both the strength of the satisfaction-loyalty relationship and factors surrounding it. We approach the study of e-satisfaction and e-loyalty (here termed "site stickiness") from a site-specific perspective, meaning that we focus on consumer perceptions of satisfaction with, and loyalty toward, the information technology (IT) artifact (website) itself, excluding outside influences, such as offline interactions with the e-vendor and post-consumption experiences. We further seek to understand the satisfaction-stickiness relationship in the context of the hospitality industry, where loyalty programs are believed to play a key role in impacting consumer behavior. We ground our research model in Bagozzi's 1992<http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10919392.2012.64224!<br> 2#CIT0005> framework of the self-regulation of attitudes, intentions, and behavior, and test it using a survey of 4838 consumers who visited a large hotel chain's website for the specific purpose of researching room rates and availability as a prelude to booking a room. Results generally support the proposed model. Post hoc analyses indicate that while trust is not a significant direct predictor of satisfaction, it negatively moderates the value-satisfaction relationship. Loyalty card membership, while an important predictor of site stickiness, does not moderate the satisfaction-stickiness relationship as suggested in prior research. This indicates further research is necessary to explore other ways of conceptualizing the impact of loyalty programs, such as investigating member vestedness.<br><br>"Why Do Consumers Go Internet Shopping Again?<br>Understanding the Antecedents of Repurchase Intention"<br><br>Yue-Yang Chen<br><br>Consumer intention of reusing online websites for shopping has a major consequence for an electronic commerce company's profitability. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence online customers' repurchase intentions is of great importance to the EC companies. Drawing on specific dimensions of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), Information Systems continuance model, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and empirical findings from prior studies as antecedents, the related factors were adapted and integrated within the context of Internet shopping repurchase intentions and were tested in a field study. Empirical data for hypotheses testing were collected from the online virtual store of 7-ELEVEN in Taiwan, yielding 444 valid samples. The results show that online consumer repurchase intention is determined by satisfaction, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and Internet shopping self-efficacy. Satisfaction is influenced by perceived usefulness, perceived ease of u!<br> se, confirmation, and positive Internet shopping experience. Perceived usefulness, in turn, is influenced by behavior modeling, positive Internet shopping experience, Internet shopping self-efficacy, and confirmation. Confirmation is affected by positive Internet shopping experience and behavior modeling. In addition, confirmation has significant effects on perceived ease of use. Finally, positive Internet shopping experience appeared to have a significant impact on Internet shopping self-efficacy. From the empirical data, meaningful findings and conclusions are derived, and suggestions for future research are also discussed.<br><br>"A Cross-National Study on Online Consumer Perceptions, Trust, and Loyalty"<br><br>Sonia San-Mart?n<br>Carmen Camarero<br><br>This article analyzes the validity of signaling theory and relationship marketing in e-commerce and in two different countries with different stages of technology development. We advance a model that reflects the role played by website characteristics as determinant factors of trust and loyalty to the website. The model is tested for young Internet users. It is examined in Spanish and Japanese contexts to ascertain whether any differences emerge due to differing cultures and shopping contexts. Results reveal few differences between Spain and Japan, despite their contrasting development of e-commerce and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Customer service is the most important website signal to engender trust, a feature closely linked to loyalty both in Japan and Spain. However, reputation seems more important when engaging Japanese buyers' trust, whereas only website design has an impact on Spanish buyers' trust.<br><br><br>"Power-Dependence and Reseller Influence on SMEs' Continued Use of Online Direct Sales Channels: An Empirical Study"<br><br>Xiaolin Li<br>Suvankar Ghosh<br><br>A dual-channel model with a physical sales channel and an online direct sales channel (ODSC) frequently causes channel conflicts. Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using such a model may be forced to suspend ODSC to ease conflicts and maintain traditional resellers. From a channel conflict perspective, this study investigates a few critical factors underlying SMEs' intention to continue with an existing ODSC. We develop a research model by integrating power-dependence theory and the technology acceptance model. Then we construct and administer a survey to a sample of US SMEs currently using the dual-channel model. Partial least squares regression is employed to analyze the data and evaluate the impact of four key factors on SMEs' continuance of ODSCs: perceived business value of ODSCs, perceived ease of continuance with ODSCs, reseller dependence, and reseller forceful actions. In response, architectural considerations have become a key concern in today's information management. It is acknowledged that only continuous and holistic management of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) can ensure the sustainability, agility, and strategic alignment of corporate IT environments. <br>Enterprise architecture management (EAM) has evolved as a discipline, beginning in the 1990s. Early work centered on architecture models, principles, and standards that comprise the content of the EA. As companies gain practical experience implementing EA concepts, they become more concerned with the management aspects in EAM, the effectiveness of EAM and its success factors. Despite a growing body of EA-related knowledge, different definitions of EAM coexist, ranging from enterprise-wide IT management to enterprise development and transformation. Correspondingly, researchers have identified substantial differences with respect to the objectives followed, the methodology employed, and the organizational implementation of EAM in practice. This has stimulated studies related to EAM adoption scenarios and situational aspects of EAM implementation. Still, though, EAM is a relatively young and immature discipline, characterized by a great variety of research approaches and a stro!<br> ng focus on conceptual frameworks and models. Until recently, theoretically rounded research on EAM practice has been rather limited.<br>With this special issue, the journal Information Systems and e-Business Management seeks to stimulate EAM research. We invite original submissions of novel research that advances our understanding of EAM as a management discipline. We are open to all types of contributions, including conceptual, design-oriented, and theory-building papers. Although many companies have discovered how critical information is to the success of their business or operations, very few have managed to be effective in maintaining their information secure, avoiding unauthorized access, preventing intrusions, stopping secret information disclosure, etc.<br><br> <br><br>There are various definitions of security, but all of them basically agree on the same components. Security in information systems considers the protection of information and of the systems that manage it, against a wide range of threats in order to ensure business continuity, minimize risks and maximize the return on investment and business opportunities.<br><br> <br><br>Security is, therefore, currently a widespread and growing concern that covers all areas of society: business, domestic, financial, government, and so on. In fact, the so-called information society is increasingly dependent on a wide range of software systems whose mission is critical, such as air traffic control systems, financial systems, or public health systems. The potential losses that are faced by businesses and organizations that rely on all these systems, both hardware and software, therefore signify that it is crucial for information systems to be properly secured from the outset.<br><br> <br><br>With the increasing dependence that the information society has on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the need to protect information is increasingly important for companies. The demand for products, systems and services with which to manage and maintain information is therefore increasing, and the realization of superficial security controls is not sufficient. It is necessary to apply a rigorous approach to the assessing and improvement of the security of products and processes that take place in the context of ICT. This has led to the emergence of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), which are of great importance to the stability of companies' information systems.<br><br> <br><br>In this new edition of WOSIS, the traditional information systems security topics will remain but we want explicitly focus the workshop on one of the most important issues and currently considered as it is security in Cloud computing. Green IT relatively <br>recently became a popular topic at conferences and in publications. <br>While this is an important issue, sustainability may also refer to the <br>maintenance of the complex weave of social systems. Again there is a <br>very wide range of meanings of what "social systems" means, but for the <br>purpose of this track, social ecology would be the focus.<br><br>Information Systems (IS) theory traditionally focuses on IS for <br>organizations, typically business organizations, assuming all other <br>kinds of social organizations (such as government organizations and <br>non-government organizations) to be variants of business systems. The PC <br>itself was developed as a business tool, and only over the past two <br>decades with its ability to handle multimedia also became a tool for <br>entertainment. Over the past decade the networked PC became a powerful <br>tool also in personal communication and private socialization in the <br>form of the so-called social media. The rise into prominence of the PC <br>as a tool of entertainment, communication and social media put <br>information systems in the hands of individuals for the use of <br>non-business purposes - i.e. for non-structured or semi-structured <br>social organizations and personal use. The recent mobilization of <br>non-structured socio-political gatherings on the Mediterranean and in <br>the Middle East were made possible by social media technology; while <br>citizen pressure groups use social media to get their voices heard, <br>demonstrated by the several million objections early in 2012 against the <br>proposed Antipiracy Bills in the USA. What is the impact of such <br>non-formal social groups and individual use on the design and <br>construction of information systems? Should design be about <br>Human-Computer-Interface (HCI), or about Human-Human Communication <br>(HHC), facilitated by technology? Similar questions were recently posed <br>at other conferences, eg. the Interaction conference - <br>http://www.siliconrepublic.com/new-media/item/25639-in-interaction-design/<br><br>The PC is no longer the dominant device for entertainment, personal <br>communication and private socialization purposes. Mobile phone <br>distribution has surpassed the PC in 2010 in market-share. The prominent <br>past view of the client-server model, where client meant PC, has changed <br>to a model where client now means mobile device - either mobile phone or <br>tablet. Do the same principles of IS developed for the PC still apply?<br><br>Ecologically, sustainability has global implications. If social <br>sustainability also implies global social sustainability, all societies <br>and the complex web of international networks (technological as well as <br>social) need to be considered. IS systems in the developing world, which <br>makes up the majority of people on this planet, thus also need to be <br>considered. However, distribution of network infrastructure in the <br>developing world is poor, while most commerce takes place in the <br>informal business sector and on the level of micro businesses. In <br>addition, the mobile market dominates the PC market by far in the <br>developing world. With its emphasis on formal organizational IS, which <br>meant business and mostly big business, and at best medium-sized <br>businesses, there is not much research in IS circles on information <br>systems for micro-organizations and micro-businesses. IS research also <br>typically assumes 24/7 broadband connectivity, which is hard to come by <br>in the developing world. So how does cloud computing apply in this <br>environment? And how should IS be designed for this environment?<br><br>Since the discipline of IS was introduced some time ago, the world has <br>changed in the ways described above. What are the implications of this <br>trend for future IS research and for principles to build sustainable IS? <br>Do we need different theories and models for mobile systems, <br>micro-organizations, individuals, social groups, and the developing <br>world? Does /status quo/IS hold? These are the questions to be addressed <br>in this track. Briefly then, what are the design implications for IS in <br>the long-term outcome of these trends and events?
