<H3 dir=ltr>About the Award</H3>
<P dir=ltr>The Distinguished Member Award, established by the AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> Council in 2006, honors members of the AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> community who have made significant contributions to the field of information systems but, unfortunately, passed away before they could be considered for an AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> Fellow or AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> LEO Award.</P>
<H3 dir=ltr>Qualifications for the Award</H3>
<P dir=ltr>The Distinguished Member Award is awarded to a person that: </P>

<UL>
<LI>Died during the previous calendar year
<LI>Was a member of AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> for at least 5 years
<LI>Is generally considered to have advanced the field through research or service
<LI>Is not a LEO award winner or AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> Fellow</LI></UL></DIV>
<H3><FONT size=3>In April of each year, the award is announced by the President of AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> in a letter to the deceased's family, in an email to all AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> members, and by announcement on the AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> home page. A short synopsis of the person's career will be placed on the AIS<A target=_blank></A><A target=_blank></A> Web site. A photo approved by the deceased's family might also be placed on the same Web page.</FONT></H3>
