objective of this special issue is to provide a forum for research focusing on
the organization as central to the analysis and understanding of information
and communication technologies (ICT) implementation and use in developing
economies. The adoption of ICT by organizations can have a significant impact
on economic development in these economies. Research focusing on ICT within an
organizational context in these economies is still scarce.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:normal;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"AdvPS6F00","serif";color:#231f20"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;border:none"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"AdvPS6F00","serif";color:#231f20">“Developing economies
are defined by low gross national income </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"AdvPS6F0B","serif";color:#231f20">per
capita </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"AdvPS6F00","serif";color:#231f20">and are generally characterized by low standards of
living,<span style> </span>a weak industrial and commercial
base, and a poor infrastructure” [1].<span style>
</span>These economies are also marked by relatively slow and unpredictable
changes in laws and regulations, and a management outlook that is adept at the
reallocation of resources [1].</span> <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">T</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman"">he unique business environment in
these economies influences the nature of design, implementation and use of ICT.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;border:none"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;border:none"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman"">We
seek papers that explore issues related to the innovative design,
implementation and use of ICT in organizations in developing economies,
focusing on how these may differ from experiences in developed economies. Submitted
work will be evaluated for methodological soundness, empirical completeness and
academic rigor as well originality and interestingness.</span></p>
