<p style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY:'Arial','sans-serif';FONT-SIZE:10pt">Information and communication technology (ICT) has long been promoted as a solution for overcoming economic, social and human development differences between and within countries. Research on ICT and development (ICTD) has become over time an important branch of the information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) scholarly landscape. Many of these developments have been associated with the SIG GlobDev special interest group on ICT and Global Development of the Association on Information Systems (AIS) and its associated annual workshops, conference mini-tracks, and specialized journals such as Information Technology for Development, Information Technologies and International Development, and the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries. During the past few years, SIG GlobDev has enjoyed a robust growth in members, reaching over 230 members from over 50 countries (both developed and developing) by the end of 2011.<br>
<br>The  “ICT AND SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT” track invites diverse and high-quality contributions on ICT in development from both emerging and established researchers from around the world. Following in the footsteps of several successful AMCIS mini-tracks and pre-AMCIS and pre-ICIS workshops, the track will continue to provide a forum for discussion of scholarly work on the diffusion and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in and for development around the world, with a specific focus on sustainability of both business models and technologies employed in the process. Papers exploring the economic, social and environmental impacts of ICTs in developing regions and the design of sustainable ICTs and related programs are welcome. We are especially interested in ICT applications involving SMEs, government, healthcare, and education initiatives, as well as in conditions for sustainable development, economic and legal frameworks, measurement of costs and benefits (including environmental, economic and human dimensions), and ICT innovations for sustainability .<br>
<br>The track invites submission of papers showcasing completed research and research-in-progress that contribute to the theory and practice of ICTs in and for development. The track is open to submissions employing a variety of research approaches and methodologies.<br>
<br>Papers should conform to the rules of the ECIS 2013 conference. Authors of selected track papers will be invited to submit their papers for possible inclusion in a special issue of Information Technology for Development (ITD).   </span></p>

The ECIS 2013 submissions website is open from <b>October 15, 2012 until December 7, 2012</b>.All submission types (<a href="https://sites.google.com/site/ecis2013nl/participation/submission#full"><span style="COLOR:#0033cc">completed research papers</span></a>, <a href="https://sites.google.com/site/ecis2013nl/participation/submission#rip"><span style="COLOR:#0033cc">research-in-progress papers</span></a>, and <a href="https://sites.google.com/site/ecis2013nl/participation/submission#teach"><span style="COLOR:#0033cc">teaching cases</span></a>) must adhere to the submission guidelines outlined in this webpage. <b>No submissions will be accepted after midnight Pacific Time, December 7, 2012</b>. Submissions can only be done online through the submission system on the website.<br>
<br>There will be <b>no extensions to the deadline!</b> In the past ECIS deadlines were usually shifted causing uncertainty for the authors and enormous overhead for the organizers. Therefore the ECIS Standing Committee decided to implement a strict deadline policy, which will be evaluated afterwards for the future ECIS conferences.<br>
<br><b>Author Notification Date</b><br>Authors will be notified as to whether their submission was accepted, conditionally accepted, or rejected by <b>February 28, 2013</b>.<br><br><b>Authors Revisions Due Date</b><br>Authors must have their final submissions submitted by <b>March 22, 2013</b>.<br>
<br><b>Early bird Registration Due Date</b><br>At least one author of every accepted submission must register for the conference by the Early Bird registration date.<br><br><b>Author presentations at ECIS 2013</b><br>At least one author of every accepted submission must present at ECIS 2013 in Utrecht. Authors should be prepared to present their papers at any time during the conference (Thursday June 6, to Saturday June 8).  Failure to comply with this requirement can result in removal of papers from the ECIS 2013 Proceedings.<br>
