<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">B-MIDEA’s goal is to create a Decision Support Application which incorporates prediction and simulation capabilities enabling organisations to analyse product
 innovations and predict the optimal route to market for same. B-MIDEA will be designed specifically for the Financial Services Sector. The project is funded by the Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Research Fund for a period of 2 years*. The successful
 candidate will have the opportunity to work with a well-established network of leading international researchers and companies in the Financial Services Sector. Dr. Philip O’Reilly is the Primary Investigator responsible for managing B-MIDEA, with Dr. Lawrence
 Dooley and Dr. Aidan Duane (Waterford Institute of Technology WIT) acting as research collaborators on the project.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">* The post duration is initially 12 months. Funding for B-MIDEA is awarded in two phases. The award for phase 1 has been granted, after which the project will
 be assessed. A successful assessment will lead to the second phase of at least 12 months.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Key Duties and Responsibilities</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">This title will apply to newly qualified Post-Doctoral Researchers and will be considered as a period of training as the researcher will have dual goals in terms
 of the research project and their own career development.  The researcher will be mentored by the Principal Investigator (PI).  It is expected that the researcher would spend not more than 3 years at the Post-Doctoral level, subject to the term of the project
 and would then be eligible to compete for a Senior Post-Doctoral post advertised by the University.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The ideal Post-Doctoral candidate should have a research record in software development and support environments. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate
 an ability to both undertake advanced research and build high-quality prototype systems, under the direction of the research team. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a strong contribution to the team's publication activities. Candidates
 should have achieved (or expect to achieve by the start date) a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, and must have a keen interest in delivering high-quality research. The primary focus of the Post- Doctoral Researcher will be
 research, however a particular emphasis during this stage should include;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To conduct a specified programme of research under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator/Project Leader.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities as required by the Principal Investigator in order to develop research skills and
 competencies.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To gain experience in grant writing.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To engage in the dissemination of the results of the research in which they are engaged, as directed by, with the support of and under the supervision of a Principal
 Investigator.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To acquire generic and transferable skills (including project management, business skills and postgraduate mentoring/supervision).</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the research group, School or College.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To interact closely with postgraduate research students who are studying for a Masters or a PhD and possibly have an agreed role in supporting these students
 in their day to day research in conjunction with an academic supervisor.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">To carry out administrative work to support the programme of research.</span></p>
