<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Description

Applications to capture,
store, and modify information may help organizations to access the information
but with globalization and increasing needs of organizations, single
applications do not address the need for right information at the right time in
the right place. Enterprise Systems (ES)
have, therefore, been developed as a strategic tool in order to address the
need to provide real time, accurate data, and integration among all functional
areas within an organization. ES
includes systems such as enterprise resource planning, supply chain management,
supplier and customer relationship management.
ES are different from traditional information systems because of their
complex structures and their intertwined nature with people and organizational
processes.

Strategies have provided
advantage to those players who used competitive actions, policies or plans
along with new tools, and technologies to achieve their objectives. Studies reveal ES may bring in many tangible
and intangible benefits to organizations including data integration, business
functions support, cost reduction, customer satisfaction, productivity
improvement, and better business performance.
However, reaping benefits from enterprise systems proved to be an
elusive goal.

Generally, enterprise systems
have a direct impact on the business processes.
These integrated applications change business plans and objectives; therefore
by definition, ES have a potential for strategic impact for organizational
performance and competitiveness. Most
recent trends and applications of ES are cloud migration and mobile use. In this context, this mini-track solicits
empirical, theoretical and case based research studies that investigate the
strategic and competitive use of enterprise systems to explain their role on
organizational and business performance.
