<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">DESCRIPTION<br>
<br>
This mini-track will focus on methods for developing cumulative research in information systems. There are a number of well-acknowledged obstacles to building a cumulative research tradition in information systems. These include: (1) There are many large and
 heterogeneous areas of literature, where You can find reputable studies that show A causes B, and equally reputable studies that show B causes A.  (2) Issues with meaning variance, where ostensibly the same construct may be operationalized differently, while
 different constructs are operationalized using the same indicators. This tendency to mix and match constructs and indicators causes further issues, such as (3) difficulties in applying cumulative quantitative techniques.  In many areas of Information Systems
 research, there have been insufficient studies using the same set of indicators to allow the application of cumulative quantitative techniques such as meta-analysis or bayesian analysis. (4) A dearth of replication studies. It has been suggested that studies
 are generalizable only to the extent that they are replicable. However, anecdotally, replication studies are extremely difficult to publish in the Information Systems field. (5) An unwillingness to revisit previously published results. Anecdotally, it has
 been suggested that as a young field, we should concentrate on moving forward, not on critiquing and re-evaluating past research. Nevertheless, we suggest that after thirty years, there may be opportunities for revisionist approaches to some mature areas of
 research. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">The result of these issues is that summarising and synthesizing previous literature is an inexact and often subjective process, building a genuinely cumulative
 tradition is difficult, and applying rigorous quantitative techniques to evaluating the accumulating weight of evidence for specific theories is often nearly impossible.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">This mini-track will focus on quantitative and qualitative research methods for building a cumulative tradition. Theoretical and methodological contributions;
