<span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman";font-size:12pt">The mini-track on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) seeks to provide a forum for research on varied aspects of GIS for business intelligence, decision-making, knowledge management, and management.<span> </span>This area is becoming an essential aspect for governments and is growing rapidly this decade in business.<span> </span>The minitrack encourages manuscript submission on conceptual theory, methodology, applications, and cases in GIS.<span> </span>Other areas of interest include rapidly growing mobile location-based applications, cloud-based GIS, <span>spatial</span>crowdsourcing, <span>spatial</span> data management and big data, <span>spatial</span> workforce, and ethical issues.<span> </span>The intent is to advance knowledge from a relatively nascent level in light of the recent geospatial revolution and encourage exchange of findings, methodologies, and ideas between scholars and practitioners in an area ripe for rapid growth in business and information schools. The mini-track over the past two years has attracted increasing interest and participation.<span> </span>It is part of the SIGDSS track and is sponsored by SIGGIS.</span></p>

<span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman";font-size:12pt"><i><b>Call For Papers</b></i><br></span></p><p style="text-align:justify;line-height:normal;margin-bottom:0pt" class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman";font-size:12pt">Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and <span>spatial</span> technologies are growing rapidly in business and government.<span> </span>Increasingly these applications involve business intelligence (BI).<span> </span>Although there is considerable research on GIS technology and geographic information science, there has been relatively little research in <span>spatial</span>decision making in business and organizations. This track seeks manuscripts that address conceptual theory, methodology, applications, and cases on these topics.<span> </span>The relevance to research is to build up greater knowledge of the geo-<span>spatial</span> aspects of decision-making and management, and to develop theory and applications, sometimes building on well-known concepts in the </span><span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman"">DSS and MIS fields</span><span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman";font-size:12pt">.<span> </span>The mini-track will address the evolving areas of GIS, GIScience, and related technologies such as RFID, imagery, location for mobile devices, and sensors, cloud-based</span><span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman""> GIS</span><span style="color:rgb(0,112,192);font-family:"Times New Roman";font-size:12pt">, and expansive <span>spatial</span> information. Since this area is rapidly growing in business, the mini-track can shed light on a new and evolving field.
