<div><font face="Consolas">Organizations large and small, private and public, have come to rely on information systems for their day-to-day operation, planning, and decision making. As strategic and operating environments become increasingly turbulent due to
the factors such as competions, regulatory changes, and technological advancements, agility, the ability to sense and react to change effectively using information technologies, has become a critical sucess factor in modern society. Yet, success is not easily
achieved.</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">The information system of a mordern enterprise is usually a complex socio-technical system. To enable the agility of such a system is challenging and becomes an important topic for both software engineers and academic researchers.
For example, it is natural to relate the process of transforming an enterprise architecture to make it ‘business agile’ to the Agile Manifesto and agile software development, which are the reflection of the agility of software development processes. The common
interests of researchers and engineers are the frameworks for safely, pragmatically, and incrementally introducing agile methods to help organisations achieve their business goals.</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">AgilES2013, the Second International Workshop on Agility of Enterprise Systems, is focused on the results of rigorous scientific research and experience of industrial practices on enterprise systems, especially on enhancing the agility
of enterprise systems. In conjunction with XP2013, one of the main international agile conferences well attended by both academics and practitioners, AgilES2013 intends to bring together the researchers and practitioners working on enterprise systems and related
fields to create a shared vision, and to bridge communication and understanding gaps. </font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">To have a successful event, we both invite researchers to share their research and reviews related to the agility of enterprise systems, and encourage practitioners to submit valuable experience reports and practical insights. We
especially welcome the contributions that critically reflect on the current status of research and practice on enterprise systems and agile development on topics including but not limited to:</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">- Agile enterprise architecture</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">- Agile development, adoption and transformation of enterprise system</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">- Agile development and service oriented architecture</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">- Agile development and enterprise system in future (e.g., for/in cloud computing)</font></div>

<div><font face="Consolas">Submission Guidelines</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">We are looking for two kinds of submissions. The first type is the original and finished research, with implications for both theory and practice. Motivation for research and discussion of the related work should be included, as well
as a description of the research method applied. Regular papers must not exceed twelve (12) pages, including all text, references, appendices, and figures.</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">The second type is work-in-progress, which describes new directions, synergies with other disciplines or results not mature enough to be a full papers. These ideas will be further developed with feedback actively sought from the agile
practitioners. Short papers are limited to six (6) pages, including all text, references, appendices, and figures.</font></div>
<div><font face="Consolas">Papers have to be written in English and formatted according to Springer’s LNBIP format:

accepted paper should register for the conference and participate in the workshop. </font></div>

<div><font face="Consolas">Agile software development methods were made for small, co-located development teams, but are increasingly applied in other settings. Several large projects, with a number of teams that develop complex systems have started to use
agile methods. How to apply agile methods to large projects was identified as the "top burning research question" by practitioners at XP2010. This workshop seeks to identify the main research challenges in conducting agile software development in large-scale.
Such challenges include portfolio management, team coordination, development of the system architecture, knowledge sharing and facilitating self management. The workshop will also focus on appropriate research designs to address the main challenges.</font></div>

<div><font face="Consolas">The results of the workshop will be published as an article in ACM Software Engineering Notes.</font></div>

<div><font face="Consolas">We ask for contributions in the form of 2-page extended abstracts describing research challenges, ongoing or planned studies, research designs or research needs as seen from industrial or academic perspectives. The abstracts will
be reviewed by two members of the program committee.</font></div>
