<p class="MsoNormal">Is anyone aware of any recent empirical studies/reports white papers assessing existing telecommunications infrastructure in rural/regional areas???<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In particular I am looking for previous research/literature which has critically assessed the capacity, geographical reach and digital services provision of specific telecommunication technologies such as:<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"># Wired - Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN also known as POTS) , Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL utilises PSTN infrastructure),

<p class="MsoNormal"># Wireless - 2G,3G, 4G (mobile cellular networks), and Satellite

<p class="MsoNormal">Above is part of a government funded larger study which I am involved that is looking at the digital futures of rural and regional communities in Australia

across the entire country <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">with fibre optic to the household in densely populated areas and fixed wireless and satellite to regional rural and remote areas that are less densely populated<o:p></o:p></p>
