<b>Introduction</b></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"; color:black">The Semantic Web (SW) broadly denotes a suite of Internet technologies (e.g., machine-interpretable data descriptions, resource description languages, software agents) that transform
the Worldwide Web from a collection of disparate documents heavily dependent on human interpretation and assembly into a network of linked data, the use of which can be greatly facilitated by technologies capable of directly assessing and “interpreting” the
meaning of different data components. As a result, knowledge discovery, sharing, and synthesis to inform policy or management action can be greatly improved to positively affect multiple government stakeholders. The SW has the potential to dramatically enhance
data-driven policy and management decision making, government service delivery, and transparency and accountability. The resulting applications are typically more systematic and comprehensive than past attempts using scorecards and dashboards based on relatively
few, and localized, data sources, as well as may reduce dependence on fragmented and often scarce expert knowledge of relevant contexts. Multiple rudimentary applications of SW already exist in both government and the private sector.</span></p>

<b>Objective</b></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"; color:black">Considering the nascent nature of implementation of SW technologies in government, the special issue aims to publish works representing the state of the art in theory-driven empirical
research advancing the systematic understanding of the organizational, management, and policy implications and consequences of SW technologies in various government-related applications.</span></p>

<b>Submission Procedure</b><br>
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for papers for this special theme issue Semantic Web Technologies for Government on or before April 10, 2013. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication.
The paper proposals should be no longer than 3-4 pages, and outline a proposal for a paper relevant to the topics of the special issue. After an initial review of proposals, authors will be invited to submit full papers. The deadline for the full papers is
October 15, 2013. Authors invited to submit full papers also agree to review two full paper submissions, in a double blind peer review process. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL’S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at
