<p class="MsoNormal">Electronic data that are increasingly generated and used in our society
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">(e.g., electronic health records, financial data, demographic data used
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">in eGoverment) need to be protected. The EU data protection legislation
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">imposes very stringent requirements on the collection, processing and
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">disclosure of personal data, and empowers users to control the
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">access/usage of their data. In the project AIS will collaborate with the
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Security (SEC) group at TU/e. In the PriCE project we aim to develop
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">innovative privacy compliance and enforcement techniques based on
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">cross-fertilizations between security and process mining.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The AIS group is one of the leading groups in BPM working on exciting new<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">techniques such as process mining (www.processmining.org), process
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">configuration, and BPM technology. The work resulted in the development
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">of the ProM framework that is widely used in industry and serves as
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">a platform for new process mining techniques used by research groups
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">all over the globe. ProM and related research will be used as a starting<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">point.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Privacy Compliance and Enforcement (PriCE) project will employ two
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">PhD candidates (one on security and one on process mining) that will
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">collaborate while being supported by several staff members from both
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">groups. The PriCE project is part of NWO’s Cyber Security program which
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">focuses on the development of products, services and knowledge for the
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">security of the digital society. It is part of the Dutch Government’s
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">National Cyber Security Strategy (NCSS). It is aimed at combatting
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">potential cyber disturbances for citizens, industry and government in the
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Netherlands.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The PhD focusing on process mining techniques for security will be
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">working in the AIS group under the supervision of prof.dr. Wil van der
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Aalst. The Architecture of Information Systems group is doing research in
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">the area of process modeling and analysis. The group is rated as one of
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">the leading computer science groups in the Netherlands and TU/e often
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">seen as the epicenter of BPM and process mining research. The group uses
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">formal methods such as Petri nets to design, analyze, and implement
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">dynamic systems. The group is well-versed in workflow management, process

<p class="MsoNormal">- knowledge of data mining and machine learning and/or process modeling
