<div>I would like to draw your attention to a research project that we are running at the Stockholm School of Economics: "Afripreneurs and the Leapfrog Effect". The purpose is to make a research documentary on young IT entrepreneurs in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya,
Tanzania, Zambia, and South Africa.</div>

<div>It is an exploratory project in a number of ways:</div>
<ol>
<li>Content: What are the enablers and challenges that young IT entrepreneurs in East Africa experience? What can young IT entrepreneurs in Sweden learn from these East African entrepreneurs? One of the areas we are exploring is the mobile leapfrog effect. </li><li>Researchers: How can we inspire the next generation to become researchers in our field? TG Teigland and Johannes Eklind, who are running this project, are both 19 years old and are doing this for their gap year after high school. One purpose of this project
is to enable them (and their friends) to gain a better understanding of what it is like to be an IS researcher.</li><li>Funding: How can we use crowdfunding to finance this project? There is so much talk about crowdfunding that we decided to try it out ourselves as a complementary source of funding. The project is live on Indiegogo and to date it has reached 50% of its
USD 6500 funding goal: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/afripreneurs-and-the-leapfrog-effect" class="_553k">http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/afripreneurs-and-the-leapfrog-effect</a>.</li><li>Supervising: How can we learn from the younger generation in terms of how they use social media? One of my goals with this project is to gain a better insight into how these 19 year olds go about conducting their research in terms of how they use social
media and their social networks and what resulting demands there are on me as a supervisor. </li></ol>
