<p class="MsoPlainText">The annual international IFIP Electronic Government (EGOV) and Electronic Participation (ePart) conferences are the European core conferences in the domain of ICT in the public sector. Each year, scholars from all over the globe present
the state of the art and most recent innovations in e-government, e-governance, e-participation and related fields of study. The IFIP conferences are organized by the IFIP Working Group 8.5 on information systems in the public sector. Since its beginnings
in 2001, the EGOV conference has provided important guidance for research and development in this fast-moving domain of study. In addition, since 2009 the ePart conference provides a focal point in relevant research and practice.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">The IFIP EGOV conference brings together leading researchers and professionals from across the globe and from a number of disciplines. Together with IFIP ePart, the sibling conference on electronic participation, and frequently affiliated
workshops on emerging topics, the IFIP conferences have attracted around 150 participants on average per year from all continents including developing countries.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">E-government research demonstrates its relevance to practice and, consequently, influences and shapes government strategies and implementations. Conversely, e-government practice also inspires e-government research. A wide range of topics
has received scholarly attention: The assessment and evaluation of e-government projects, the use of Data Science in government, the foundations of e-government as a research discipline, integration and interoperation in government, transformation, smart government,
organizational change, citizens at the center, open and big data, adoption and diffusion, open government, social media, ICT supporting policy modeling, and the role of information and communication technology for development appear to be among prevalent topics
in e-government papers, workshops and panels.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">E-Participation research is particularly timely and relevant in various contexts and in diverse environments, e.g. digital democracy; participatory public service design; use of open government data in eParticipation initiatives; use
of social media (e.g. Twitter, facebook) by citizens, governments and civil servants; top-down and bottom-up eParticipation initiatives related to the economic and welfare issues, etc.

<p class="MsoPlainText">The research paper submission deadline has already passed. For the 13th IFIP EGOV conference and the 6th IFIP ePart conference we currently seek contributions for:<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText">Prior to the conference (that is, on Sunday, September August 31), a PhD student colloquium will be held providing doctoral students with an international forum guided by senior scholars for presenting their work, networking opportunities
and cross-disciplinary inspiration. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText">As indicated the IFIP EGOV and IFIP ePart conferences will be co-located. Participants registering for one conference can also attend the other conference for no extra charge.<o:p></o:p></p>
