The Editor will serve four years,<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>starting with January 1, 2015, and may be reappointed to a second two-year<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>term. The basic responsibility of the Decision Sciences Editor is to publish<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>six high quality issues of the Journal in February, April, June, August,<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>October, and December of each year. (Note that we anticipate a transition<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>period to begin this fall, as the new Editor gradually takes over the role.)<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>The mission of the journal is to publish "scholarly research about decision<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>making within the boundaries of an organization, as well as decisions<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>involving inter-firm coordination. The journal promotes research advancing<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>decision making at the interfaces of business functions and organizational<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>boundaries." As a flagship journal of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>the journal has a rich history and a record of publishing high quality<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>multidisciplinary research, from a variety of disciplines. The scholarly<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>impact of the articles published in the journal has been significant and the<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>articles have influenced the evolution of knowledge across a range of<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>disciplines. This mirrors the DSI's bylaws which state that we are a<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>comprehensive multidisciplinary association and that "Decision Sciences is<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>the union of quantitative and behavioral approaches to managerial decision<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>making encompassing all of the functional areas of business." With respect<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>to intellectual interests, the Decision Sciences Editor should have broad<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>familiarity with virtually all functional and methodological areas related<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>to managerial decision making.
