embrace Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for their social,
economic and human development in the last couple of decades. Hence, recently
emerging markets and developing economies, with their increasing influence on
our Globalizing World, are attracting significant interests among Information
Technology (IT) professionals and practitioners. ICTs have been proven to be an
important tool to leverage investments in communication, education, information
diffusion and access, banking, healthcare, agriculture, government and overall
development of these particular nations. Yet, these economies present different
requirements and pose unique challenges than developed nations when
implementing ICTs to solve their real world problems. There is an urgent need to
investigate how ICTs can be powerful tools and provide affordable solutions for
development in emerging economies. </span></p>
