The dual 14th IFIP Electronic Government and 7th e-Participation Conference (IFIP EGOV/ePart) 2015 will be held from Sunday, August 30 to Thursday, September 3, 2014 under the local auspices of the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, ( <a href="http://www.uom.gr/" class="">http://www.uom.gr/</a> )

The Smart Governance, Smart Government, & Smart Cities Track is a new track at the dual IFIP EGOV/ePart conference. It focuses on the orchestrated interplay and balance of smart governance practices, smart public administration, smart resource and talent leverage
in urban and regional spaces facilitated by novel uses of ICTs and other technologies, in particular the Internet of Things. <br class="">
<br class="">
Areas of focus and interest include but are not limited to the following topics: <br class="">
<br class="">
– Smart governance as the foundation to creating smart urban and regional spaces (elements, prerequisites, and principles of smart governance) <br class="">
– Smart government (focal areas, examples, current practices, cases, potential pitfalls) <br class="">
– Smart partnerships (triple/quadruple helix, public-private partnerships, citizen participation) <br class="">
– Smart cities and smart regions (cases, rankings and comparisons, critical success factors) <br class="">
– Data analytics in/for smart cities and smart regions <br class="">
– Collective intelligence for cities and regions <br class="">
– Smart grids and the Internet of Things (infrastructure, transportation, education, governance, environment, health care, safety, security, and energy) <br class="">
– Smart carbonless and clean individual and public mobility <br class="">
– Smart devices and their novel use in public management <br class="">
– Smart (technology-facilitated) practices such as payment systems, identification systems, etc. <br class="">
– SMART as a public-sector planning and management principle (Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Results-based, and Time-bound) <br class="">

FORMATS <br class="">
<br class="">
Across its tracks, the dual IFIP EGOV/ePart 2015 conference hosts three distinct formats of contributions: <br class="">
<br class="">
• Completed research papers (max. 12 pages, published in the IFIP EGOV proceedings of Springer LNCS) <br class="">
• Ongoing research and innovative projects (max. 8 pages, published in alternate proceedings by a IOS Press) <br class="">
<br class="">
Beyond the tracks, the dual IFIP EGOV/ePart 2015 conference also hosts <br class="">
<br class="">
• Posters (max. 2 pages), to be exposed along the welcome reception on Tuesday evening <br class="">
• Workshops and panels on pertinent issues, short abstracts (2 pages), and <br class="">
• PhD colloquium submissions, <br class="">
<br class="">
all to be included in the alternate proceedings published by IOS Press <br class="">
<br class="">
These formats encourage both, scientific rigor and discussions of state of the art as well as innovative research approaches, work in progress, and studies of practical e-government or e-governance projects along with papers on system implementations. <br class="">
<br class="">
Prior to the conference (that is, on Sunday and Monday, August 30 and 31), a PhD student colloquium will be held providing doctoral students with an international forum guided by senior scholars for presenting their work, networking opportunities and cross-disciplinary
