San Diego State University
Senior Level Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Information Systems
Appointment Beginning Fall 2011

The Information and Decision Systems (IDS) Department in the College of
Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) is seeking
applications for one full time, tenure-track faculty to assist in the
development of a joint PhD program and teach and conduct research in the
department. The rank is at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level
depending on experience. The appointment will begin Fall 2011 and salary is
commensurate with credentials and experience.

The person holding this position will be responsible for finalizing
development and implementing a high-quality joint doctoral program (JDP).
Responsibilities include working to establish and cultivate relationships
with local companies and government organizations as well as prospective
state funded and self-funded students. The person holding this position
would become director upon implementation of the program and would be
charged with helping faculty pursue funded research.

Qualified applicants will have:

. a doctoral-level degree in information systems or a related
discipline,

. experience working with doctoral students and preparing them for
positions in industry and academia,

. demonstrated a commitment to cross-disciplinary programs and
research,

. a track record of acquiring grants to support research,

. an accomplished record of scholarly work,

. demonstrated a commitment to teaching excellence.

The JDP will help the department meet the growing demand for its courses by
bringing in PhD students who are up-to-date with current technology and
practices. The PhD program is designed to be cross-disciplinary, so we
anticipate having PhD students teach and work with faculty in other
departments as well.

The IDS Department is a multidisciplinary department, which includes fifteen
tenured faculty and nine lecturers in the areas of information systems,
supply chain management, business statistics, and business communication.
The department offers an undergraduate major in information systems and MBA
specializations in information systems, project management, and supply chain
management. The department anticipates final approval of a new MS-IS
graduate degree program in Spring 2011. The College of Business
Administration enrolls approximately 4,000 undergraduate business majors and
over 600 graduate students pursuing both the MBA and MS degrees. The
college is the 35th largest business school in the world, 19th largest in
the US and 3rd largest in the state of California.

Located in "America's Finest City," San Diego State University is the oldest
and largest higher education institution in the San Diego region. Since it
was founded in 1897, the university has grown to become a nationally ranked
research university. Each year, SDSU provides more than 35,000 students with
the opportunity to participate in an academic curriculum distinguished by
direct contact with faculty and an increasing international emphasis,
preparing them for a global future. For four consecutive years, SDSU has
been ranked as the #1 most productive research university among schools with
14 or fewer Ph.D. programs based on the Faculty Scholarly Index.

Several members of the IDS faculty will attend the International Conference
on Information Systems (ICIS) held in St. Louis, Missouri, December 2010 and
the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) held in
Kauai, Hawaii, January 2011. Interested candidates should send a letter of
interest that outlines their qualifications for the position, current
curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and examples of scholarly
accomplishments as soon as possible. Review of applications will begin in
November 2010 and will continue until the position is filled. The contact
