Call for Tutorials
The Third International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo'11)
6 - 8 October, 2011, Singapore
Website: http://www.sis.smu.edu.sg/SocInfo2011/cft.html
The International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo) is an interdisciplinary venue for researchers from informatics and the social and management sciences to come together to share ideas and opinions, and present original research work. The goal is to create an opportunity for the dissemination of knowledge between the two communities, as well as to enable mutual critical discussion of current research.
We seek proposals of tutorials held during the conference?s main program in form of a half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours) lecture series for interested conference participants covering a specific topic. The tutorial program provides an opportunity for conference participants to gain new knowledge, skills and insights in a broad range of cutting-edge topics within the scope of the conference. Please see the main call for papers for examples. Multidisciplinary perspectives are encouraged, as are those focusing on technical or social science areas.
Each tutorial proposal should include the following information:
* Tutorial title
* Tutorial abstract: 1-2 paragraphs describing the goals and contents of the tutorial. This will be included as part of the conference publicity materials.
* Length: Half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours).
* Goals and objectives of the tutorial
* Outline of tutorial: Covers major sections of the tutorial with brief descriptions
* Intended audience and assumed background knowledge
* Equipment needed (if any), for example computers for participants, software, etc.
* Presenter(s) short biography demonstrating that she/he is an expert on the subject of the tutorial: This will be included in the conference publicity materials
* Presenter(s) contact information: name, affiliation, email, mailing address, phone, fax.
* Relevant references supporting the tutorial proposal
* Indication if the proposed tutorial has been previously conducted
Proposals will be selected based on the topic relevance, technical expertise of the presenter(s), and anticipated level of interest.
Tutorial proposals need not follow the Springer format of the conference. Instead, a simple one-column style will suffice. Proposals should be no more than five pages in length.
Submit tutorial proposals to the both tutorial co-chairs by April 30, 2011:
Do Quoc Anh: quocanhdo at smu.edu.sg<mailto:quocanhdo at smu.edu.sg>
Dion Goh: ashlgoh at ntu.edu.sg<mailto:ashlgoh at ntu.edu.sg>
Queries may also be directed to the co-chairs using the email addresses above.
Upon Acceptance
Tutorial presenters will be required to provide comprehensive tutorial notes by September 15, 2011. Notes can be in the form of printable slides, additional documents, etc. These will be made available to tutorial attendees.
Each accepted tutorial will receive a conference registration waiver and a modest amount of honorarium depending on the tutorial duration.

------
SCOPE
------
There is a more and more common understanding, that not the ownership of
IT resources but their management is the foundation for sustainable
competitive advantage . According to Ross et al., smart companies define
how they (will) do business (using an operating model) and design the
processes and infrastructure critical to their current and future
operations (using an enterprise architecture).
The management of information technology resources should be done with
the application of engineering principles, called enterprise
engineering. Enterprise Engineering allows deriving the Enterprise
Architecture from the enterprise goals and strategy and aligning it with
the enterprise resources, but it may also be supported by the Enterprise
Architecture if the latter is documented. Enterprise architecture aims
(i) to understand the interactions and all kind of articulations between
business and information technology, (ii) to define how to align
business components and IT components, as well as business strategy and
IT strategy, and more particularly (iii) to develop and support a common
understanding and sharing of those purposes of interest. Enterprise
architecture is used to map the enterprise goal and strategy to the
enterprise?s resources (actors, assets, IT supports) and to take into
account the evolution of this mapping. It also provides documentation on
the assignment of enterprise resources to the enterprise goals and
strategy. To this end, advantageous patterns (best practices) can be
reused and alternative design solutions can be compared. Furthermore,
enterprise architecture may be checked for compliance with laws,
regulatory rules etc. Finally, enterprise architecture facilitates the
measurement the performance and efficiency of the resources used.
There are different paradigms for creating enterprise architecture. The
most important regarding the purpose of this workshop is to encapsulate
the functionalities provided by IT resources as services. By this means,
it is possible to clearly describe the contributions of IT resources
both in terms of functionality and quality and to define a
service-oriented enterprise architecture. Service-oriented enterprise
architecture easily integrates wide-spread technological approaches such
as SOA or emerging ones as the cloud computing because they also use
service as structuring paradigm. Service-oriented enterprise engineering
further develops the enterprise engineering approach selecting service
as governing paradigm. The enterprise goals and strategies are mapped to
a service-oriented enterprise architecture.
Service-oriented enterprise architecture differentiates four layers of
services. Thus, its scope is much broader than the scope of the
service-oriented architecture (SOA) and also includes services not
accessible through software such as business and infrastructure
services. Services of different layers may be interconnected in service
(value) nets to provide higher level services.
1. Business services are services, which directly support business
processes. Business processes can also be developed dynamically
(on-the-fly) using business services which are available in a repository
for a given business domain. An example is call-centre services provided
by an external service provider.
2. Software services exist as two types: (i) human-oriented
applications, which are provided as Software as a Service, (ii)
application services which are part of so-called
Service-Oriented-Architectures that are a popular paradigm for creating
enterprise software .
3. Platform Services provide support of the development of applications.
They provide services for the execution of applications, middleware
stacks, web servers etc.
4. Infrastructure services are more hardware-flavoured services, which
are provided using computers. They may have a human addressee but
contain many infrastructure services such as providing computing power,
storage etc. They are an important topic in management and practice
collections such as ITILV3 or standards such as ISO/IEC 20000 have
gained a high popularity.
------
GOALS
------
The goal of the workshop is to develop concepts and methods to assist
the engineering and the management of service-oriented enterprise
architectures and the software systems supporting them. Especially three
themes of research shall be pursued:
1. Alignment of the enterprise goals and strategies with the
service-oriented enterprise architecture
2. Design of the service-oriented enterprise architecture
3. Mapping of service-oriented enterprise architecture to enterprise
resources
---------------------
TOPICS OF DISCUSSION
---------------------
During the workshop we will discuss the following topics:
1. Alignment of the enterprise goals and strategy with the
service-oriented enterprise architecture
- Which interdependencies exist between services and business strategy?
- Which concepts and methods are necessary to align services with the
business strategy?

COLLABORATION WITH THE TEAR WORKSHOP
-------------------------------------
The 2011 SoEA4EE workshop will be organised in collaboration with the
TEAR workshop. The SoEA4EE 2011 workshop will be held on the 30th of
August, while the TEAR workshop will be held on the 29th of August. The
organisers of both workshops explicitly invite visitors to visit both
workshops, in order to further the integration between the two communities.
Where the TEAR workshop focuses on EA in general, the SoEA4EE workshop
focuses on the role of the service oriented paradigm in the context of EA.
Authors of papers on topics (that were included in past TEAR
call-for-papers) such as:
- Integrating service oriented and legacy architectures,
- Service design on application and business levels,
- Service orientation as EA design paradigm,
- Service oriented architecture (SOA) and EA,
are invited to submit these papers to the SoEA4EE workshop instead of TEAR.
Authors of papers dealing with Enterprise Architecture without any link
to service orientation in its widest sense are invited to submit these
papers to TEAR instead of SoEA4EE.
-----------
SUBMISSION
-----------
Full papers (8-10 pages in the IEEE-CS format) describing mature results
are sought. In addition, short papers (4 pages in the IEEE-CS format)
may be submitted to facilitate discussion of recent research results and
ongoing projects. The paper selection will be based upon the relevance
of a paper to the main topics, as well as upon its quality and potential
to generate relevant discussion. All contributions will be peer reviewed
based on the complete version, being full or short.
All papers published in the EDOC 2011 workshop proceedings must be in
the IEEE Computer Society format
(http://www2.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting). It is strongly
recommended that all papers are already in this format when they are
first submitted to workshops. This gives precise picture of the paper
length and avoids rework if the paper is accepted.
Please submit your paper to nurcan at univ-paris1.fr
At least one author of each accepted workshop paper will have to
register for the whole EDOC 2011 conference and attend the workshop to
present the paper. Analogously to previous years, there will be no
workshop-only registration at EDOC 2011. If a paper is not presented in
the workshop, it will be removed from the workshop proceedings published
in the IEEE Xplore digital library.
The SoEA4EE workshop has been a full day workshop in conjunction with
EDOC?09 in New Zealand and with EDOC?10 in Brasil.

-----------------
EXPECTED RESULTS
-----------------
All papers will be published in the workshop wiki (www.soea4ee.org)
before the workshop, so that everybody can learn about the problems that
are important for other participants. The workshop will consist of long
and short paper presentations, brainstorming sessions and discussions. A
workshop report will be created collaboratively using the workshop wiki.

International Conference on Software and Systems Process (ICSSP 2011) will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, on May 21-22, 2011 (co-located with ICSE 2011). Since the first conference in 2007, the precursor ICSP conference series has established its place in the software engineering community as a premier event for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss the most recent research and practice related to software development process.
Software and systems development is a complex undertaking that takes place in a dynamic context of evolving technologies, rapid changing environments, and limited resources. Whilst, higher levels of global competition and financial stresses place increasing pressure on development teams worldwide to deliver software, systems and services more quickly and with higher levels of quality, while still managing to minimize the risk of project failure.
In 2011, the new ICSSP conference series is the successor to the past ICSP conference series, widening the ICSP scope from a focus on software process to a focus on the larger issues relating to systems development processes research and practice. The main theme of ICSSP 2011 is "Processes for Tomorrow's Systems Engineering" offering the community a new perspective on systems engineering process.
The conference offers an exciting program features:
- Keynote Speeches by Barry Boehm and Ross Jeffery

Second International Workshop on
Models and Model-driven Methods for Service Engineering (3M4SE 2011)
in conjunction with the
Fifteenth IEEE International EDOC Conference (EDOC 2011)
"The Enterprise Computing Conference",
August 29 - September 2, 2011, Helsinki, Finland
http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/edoc2011/3m4se <http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/edoc2011/3m4se>
Scope
-----
Recent developments in meta-modelling and model transformation techniques have led to increasing adoption of model-driven engineering practices. The increase in interest and significance of the model-driven approach has also accelerated its application in the development of large (distributed) IT systems to support (collaborative) enterprises. Shifting attention from source code to models allows enterprises to focus on their core concerns, such as business processes, services and collaborations, without being forced to simultaneously consider the underlying technologies. Different concerns are typically addressed by different models, with transformations between the models and ultimately to the source code. Although the model-driven approach offers theoretical benefits for the development, maintenance and evolution of enterprise computing systems and corresponding service-oriented solutions, a number of issues for the practical application of the
approach still exist. In order to solve these issues further advances in models (business goals, pragmatic interoperability, semantic interoperability) and model-driven methods (design concepts, languages, meta-models, profiles, specification frameworks) are necessary.
This workshop aims at helping the convergence of research on model-driven development and practical application of the model-driven approach in the area of enterprise computing and service engineering. The workshop addresses questions with respect to the requirements on, concepts for, properties of and experience with models and model-driven methods for service engineering in the area of enterprise computing. A special focus will be on the combined application of model-driven and semantic approaches in the different phases of the service lifecycle.
Topics
------
* Model-driven service-oriented design process, milestones and design guidelines for service engineering (business goals, pragmatic interoperability, semantic interoperability);
* Modelling techniques for Service-Oriented Architectures (design concepts, languages, meta-models, profiles and specification frameworks);
* Full lifecycle requirements management for service systems;
* Modelling of non-functional and Quality-of-Service characteristics;
* Modelling, analysis and execution of service compositions;
* Model-driven design patterns;
* Platform-independent modelling techniques;
* Mappings and transformation patterns from platform-independent models to specific technology platforms (Web Services, J2EE, .NET, etc.).
* Limitations of metamodel-based techniques for service engineering, and alternative techniques;
* Model-driven service description, publication and discovery;
* Platform models and generic platform types;
* Use of viewpoints, relations and correspondences between viewpoints for model-driven service-oriented design;
* Implications of (middleware) platform characteristics for the model-driven design process;
* Empirical studies and experience reports on models and model-driven methods.
Submission
----------
The workshop welcomes submissions of full papers (8 to 10 pages long) and position papers (around 4 pages) in the IEEE Computer Society format. Full research papers should describe original results that have not been accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. These papers will be evaluated for scientific or technical contribution, originality, appropriateness and significance.
Position papers should describe new insights gained, should define new problems or research directions and/or pose challenges for researchers. These papers will be evaluated based on their appropriateness, significance, clarity and on their potential to trigger interesting discussions on the day of the workshop.
All submissions must comply with the IEEE Computer Society conference proceedings format guidelines (please use the latest template as there have been updates recently). Submissions must be in English.
Submissions should be submitted in PDF format using the EasyChair system (see http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=3m4se2011 <http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=3m4se2011> ).
All papers will be refereed by at least 3 members of the International Program Committee.
Accepted papers will be published pre-conference, in the EDOC short-papers and workshops' proceedings by the IEEE Computer Society Press and will be accessible through IEEE Xplore and the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library. The IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at the workshop.

================================================================
The European Conference on Web Services (ECOWS) is the premier
conference on the advances in the state of the art and practice
of Web services. The main objectives of this conference are to
facilitate the exchange between researchers and practitioners
and to foster future collaborations in Europe and beyond.
The ECOWS 2011 conference will include invited speakers,
presentations of contributed research papers and an industrial
track with the participation of top researchers from industry.
ECOWS 2011 will also include a PhD symposium and satellite
workshops.
----------
Background
----------
The success encountered by the Web has shown that tightly
coupled software systems are only good for niche markets,
whereas loosely coupled software systems can be more flexible,
more adaptive and often more appropriate in practice. Loose
coupling makes it easier for a given system to interact with
other systems, possibly legacy systems that share very little
with it. Web services are at the crossing of distributed
computing and loosely coupled systems. When applications are
developed with service-oriented architectures, they can evolve
more easily during their lifespan and adapt better to changing
or even unpredictable environments. Services today can be
implemented such that they are discovered and invoked
dynamically using non-proprietary mechanisms. Such services
are developed and deployed in a black-box manner. This is of
particular importance from a business perspective since
services are implemented in a variety of technologies.
Essential is agreement on integration technology and consensus
has emerged in today's middleware market: Customers want
to use Web technologies. Despite these promises, however,
service integrators, developers, and providers need to create
methods, tools and techniques to support cost-effective
development and use of dependable services and service-oriented
applications.
------------------

Subject: [AISWorld] 8th International Conference on Intellectual
Capital, Knowledge Management & Organisational Learning - ICICKM 2011
- Final call for Papers
Message-ID: <24B9A6E1D892A34393BF164AD84655C04BD7AB at server1.aci.local>

This is a Final call for papers for the 8th International Conference on
Intellectual Capital, Knowledge Management & Organisational Learning -
ICICKM 2011 being held at The Institute for Knowledge and Innovation
Southeast Asia (IKI-SEA) of Bangkok University, Bangkok, Thailand on the
27-28 October 2011.
This call is open until the 7th of April 2011.
Today, knowledge and intellectual capital plays a principal role in the
delivery of corporate performance. This importance is reflected in the
fact that companies, without the force of any regulations, start to
measure their knowledge and intellectual capital, they even produce and
externally publish intellectual capital statements; accounting
guidelines are being developed and standards are being questioned and
reviewed; and governments are beginning to measure the intellectual
capital of cities, regions, and countries. Companies and investors alike
are trying to measure their intellectual capital and the value of
knowledge. However, it seems as if the field has reached a point of
maturity where we need to address issues around taxonomies and research
methodology. The concept of knowledge or intellectual capital is often
poorly defined and is addressed from multiple disciplinary perspectives
which all give it slightly different meanings.
The conference committee welcomes both academic and practitioner papers
on a wide range of topics using a range of scholarly approaches
including theoretical and empirical papers employing qualitative,
quantitative and critical methods. Action research, case studies and
work in progress/posters are welcomed approaches. PhD Research,
proposals for roundtable discussions, non-academic contributions and
product demonstrations based on the main themes are also invited.
You can find calls for papers for these tracks at:

Call for Papers: The Role of Platforms for Enterprise Eco-Systems
Workshop at the 41. Annual GI-Conference INFORMATIK 2011
October 04 ? 07, 2011 ? Berlin, Germany
Please excuse any cross-postings of this call for papers.
Since their introduction, Information Systems have changed and shaped many
aspects of business, may be even the way business is conducted altogether.
This is especially true for the cooperation between firms that leads to an
integration of value chains across multiple entities. The emerging networks
span not only the various business units of any one company, but may also
include multiple units from multiple firms. As a consequence, companies need
to look not only at themselves in order to ensure sustainable and superior
business performance, but also at an entire eco-system of surrounding
entities with which they interact. These eco-systems span multiple stages of
the supply chain, that is, involve suppliers and customers. In order to
allow these different units to cooperate successfully, the existence of a
common platform is crucial. Such a platform enables the transformation of
monolithic, closed system landscapes into a more open infrastructural
backbone for business networks. An example is the increasing adoption of
service-oriented architecture (SOA). Through its higher degree of
modularity, SOA allows companies to integrate external services much more
easily. Moreover, the process and service chains of various entities along a
value chain can be integrated much more seamlessly. Another case in point is
the growing importance of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) concepts and
corresponding offerings.
The workshop on emerging enterprise eco-system platforms (3EP) provides a
forum for the scientific discourse dealing with the role of platforms in
business networks. The event aims at taking a both diverse and balanced look
on the impact and effects of platforms on enterprise eco-systems. During the
workshop we want to discuss technological as well as management-oriented
issues. In doing so, we want to encourage an exchange concerning design,
use, and optimization of platforms in enterprise eco-systems among software
developers, platform providers, and users.
Possible Topics:
- Different architectural approaches to platforms for respective application
scenarios
- Business models in the context of service-oriented platforms for
integrated information systems
- Technological and organizational implications for platform providers
- Orchestration and composition of services
- Software product life-cycle in distributed and dynamic business networks
- Performance measurement and management of external services
- Effects of platform concepts on the degree of integration in business
networks
- Approaches to coordinate internal and external services
- Implications for the data layer (e.g., issues of data integration and
interoperability)
- Platform governance
- Emerging opportunities and potentials through the use of platforms
- Interaction between application marketplaces and platforms
- Economic implications of platform concepts for the software industry
- Impact of consumerization on platforms used in an enterprise context
- Case studies and best practices of platform providers and platform users
Your contribution:
We welcome theoretical and empirical papers as submissions for the 3EP
workshop. Exemplary cases from the industry are also welcome to enrich the
discussion. Submissions can be made in either English or German and should
comprise 8 to 12 pages (including all figures, tables, and references).
Submissions should be made until 04/24/2011 (11:59 pm GMT +1).
Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings as part of
the 'Lecture Notes in Informatics (LNI)' series. All submissions must be
made following the respective formatting and style guidelines:
http://www.gi.de/fileadmin/redaktion/Autorenrichtlinien/guidelines.pdf
Submissions will be made via the EasyChair system. When handing in, you will
be asked to select the respective workshop before entering authors and
affiliations. Once completed, please upload your article in PDF format:

For more information, please visit http://www.informatik2011.de/535.html (in
German only) or contact info (AT) informatik2011.de
Target Group:
The 3EP workshop provides a forum for both academics and practitioners for
mutual exchange and inspiration. Submissions from computer science as well
as from information systems will provide a complementary view on the issue
of platforms in business networks. Authors that look at the phenomenon from
adjacent discipline, such as sociology or law, are equally welcome and
encouraged to contribute respective submissions.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, 3EP intends to integrate the
various theoretical and empirical perspectives on the phenomenon. The
participation of practitioners will help to gear the workshop?s results
towards relevance and applicability on practice.
Important Dates:
04/24/2011 ? Submission Deadline via EasyChair:

International and Inter-disciplinary Workshop on
Practice Research
June 8, 2011, Helsinki, Finland
---------- Extended time for submission: April 1 ----------
Background
There is a growing recognition that research in professional practices needs approaches that well reflect the character of such practices. It is necessary to adapt ontology, epistemology and methodology. How should we conduct inquiries in workpractices? What kind of knowledge is expected? What are the driving knowledge interests? How is practical relevance ensured? What kinds of interventions are adequate in work practices? How should we arrange cooperation between researchers and practitioners? There are several pending issues. The interest for an adapted research approach on workpractices is growing. This can be seen in several disciplines. Such a research orientation can be labelled practice research. Practice research can comprise different research approaches such as action research, interactive research, design research, evaluation research, pragmatic inquiry and collaborative inquiry among others.
An International and Inter-disciplinary Workshop on Practice research
What has been stated above motivates an inter-disciplinary knowledge exchange on practice research. An international and inter-disciplinary workshop on Practice research will be arranged. We welcome researchers from many fields for an open and constructive knowledge exchange. The organisers of this workshop come from the disciplines of Information systems and Social work. We welcome paper submissions from these disciplines as well as others. The workshop will follow an ordinary scientific procedure with submission of papers and selection of papers through peer-review (pursued by an international and interdisciplinary program committee).
