The UW E-Business Consortium (UWEBC) (www.uwebc.org ) is a collaborative 
learning community of Wisconsin's leading companies and flagship 
university, focused on thought leadership, business best practices and 
emerging information technologies. Around 70 world-class companies are 
members of UWEBC. This represents a very powerful knowledge-network - 
The UWEBC allows executives and senior managers to tap into the 
collective wisdom and experiences of this diverse group of companies to 
help them make informed decisions, mitigate risk and maximize success 
with the initiatives that they are leading in their own companies. The 
UWEBC has several focus areas, Information Technology (IT) being one of 
them -- The IT Practice Director will be responsible for leading the IT 
focus area and associated offerings to UWEBC members. This position will 
facilitate knowledge-sharing of best practices and lessons learned among 
IT professionals and IT executives of UWEBC member companies, and assist 
in the development and execution of UWEBC's applied research, 
knowledge-exchange and industry outreach initiatives.

  Degree and area of specialization and Minimum work experience:
Masters degree required, preferably in information technology/systems, 
computer science, communications, engineering, business or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required. Must have sound 
understanding of information technology (IT), IT infrastructure, 
information security, and associated strategies and applications in 
industry. Must have strong analytic, research, and consulting skills as 
well as excellent written and verbal communication, group facilitation, 
and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of independently leading and 
facilitating peer group meetings of IT professionals and executives, 
providing IT-related advisory services, informal instruction and 
supervision of project student assistants, and authoring of technical 
reports. Must be capable of coordination of projects including the 
development of project proposals, design of the project execution and 
analysis methodologies, and the preparation and presentation of reports 
of project results. Strong organizational and time management skills and 
the ability to successfully coordinate multiple, concurrent 
responsibilities are essential. Must demonstrate initiative and an 
ability to work independently as well as in groups. Must be thorough and 
accurate and have a propensity to learn. Experience involving management 
consulting, project leadership and coordination, group facilitation, and 
instruction is preferred.
Principal duties:
The IT Practice Director will assist in the development and execution of 
the collaborative learning, applied research, and industry outreach 
initiatives of the UWEBC. This person will be responsible for leading 
several concurrent initiatives, and provide day-to-day team leadership, 
technical and methodological expertise, and coordinate planning and 
execution of these activities. This position will report to the 
Executive Director of the Consortium. Principal duties include:
(1) Independently plan, lead and coordinate the Consortium's Peer Group 
meetings and related research and knowledge-sharing activities to help 
IT professionals, managers and executives discover best practices and 
address strategic and operational issues/challenges related to 
Information Security, IT infrastructure, and IT strategy. This will 
include responsibility for (a) definition of topics addressing 
Consortium member needs, (b) development of meeting content (including 
by invited subject matter experts and executives), (c) development of 
discussion and analysis frameworks by researching and compiling relevant 
information from multiple sources (including member companies), (d) 
presentation of research findings and facilitation of group discussion, 
and (e) related communications for member engagement and relationship 
development.
(2) Provide advisory services targeted at IT executives and senior 
managers in Consortium member companies. This will include 
responsibility for (a) staying abreast with emerging IT trends and 
issues and provide executive briefings, (b) engaging with members to 
gain insight into the IT related issues and challenges that they are 
facing, (c) providing them advisory assistance (including through 
facilitation of member-to-member advising).
(3) Help develop, perform and manage applied research and industry 
outreach projects. This will include responsibility for the development 
of project proposals and the design of project frameworks (including 
methodology, protocols, deliverables and timelines) in consultation with 
the Executive Director. The person will have lead responsibility for 
project management and execution including information gathering and 
analysis, coordination of all project team members, and completion of 
project deliverables.
  (4) Communicate the findings from the Peer Group and research 
activities by developing best practice reports, opinion papers, 
guidelines, decision-tools, assessment aids, etc., and through oral 
presentations. Task responsibilities will include designing of the 
structure of these educational materials, as well as authoring the 
contents (either independently or in collaboration with industry 
members, faculty and student assistants).
(5) Informal instruction and supervision of student assistants involved 
with the various Peer Group, applied research and industry outreach 
initiatives.
  (6) Organize and manage the IT track of the UWEBC annual conference, 
including defining the presentation topics, recruitment of speakers, and 
facilitation of the conference track.
  (7) Assist with other industry outreach initiatives of the Consortium.
