Georgia State University
J. Mack Robinson College of Business
Department of Computer Information Systems

The Department of Computer Information Systems at Georgia State University invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of health information technology. The position is open to candidates at any rank, but we expect to hire at the level of senior assistant professor or associate professor and we seek candidates with established scholarly publication records. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate, a deep understanding of both information technology and the healthcare environment, and be able to articulate a coherent research focus that sits at the intersection of these two domains. Candidates should possess strong theory-development skills and be able to apply cutting-edge methodologies appropriate for research in this domain. A current record and strong trajectory of publications in premier IS and IT journals (e.g., MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and publications in ACM and IEEE Transactions), other top business journals (e.g., Management Science, Academy of Management Journal), as well as healthcare-related journals are expected. The ideal candidate will also be one who is capable of raising external funds for HIT-related research.

ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
Georgia State University (GSU) is a leading urban research university located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, the business and cultural center of the South and a national hub for health-care and HIT organizations. This faculty position (along with two others in the health-care management area) is being funded by GSU as part of its 2nd Century Research Clusters initiative, which aims to foster cross-disciplinary research. Each research cluster will have a total of three new faculty positions as well as nine doctoral scholarships.
The Department of Computer Information Systems is part of the Robinson College of Business and is consistently ranked as one of the top information systems departments in the world. Since 2006, the CIS Department has partnered with the Institute of Health Administration (also housed within the Robinson College of Business) both to provide educational programs for those wishing to specialize in health information technology and to advance cutting-edge research in this area. Salary level, course load, and additional research support are competitive.
