Open Faculty Position in Information Systems

The Department of Information Processing Science and the The Information Systems Security Research Center at the University of Oulu (http://issrc.oulu.fi/research-and-publications/), Finland, has opening for one faculty position in Information Systems at the level of Assistant Professor. Teaching load is low, only 1-2 courses per year.

The IS scholars of the department are ranked highly in terms of research productivity among European universities. Faculty numbers of the department have published their research in leading Information Systems journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Information System Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information & Organization, Information Systems Journal, Information & Management, ACM Database, Communications of the ACM, IEEE Computer, and IEEE IT Professional.

The research performed by the candidate must fit or complement following present research areas of the IS Security Research Centre:

	• •	Integration of information security to the information systems and software development methods. Research methods used are: design science, action research, case studies. 

	• •	Behavioral aspects of information security at the organizational and home contexts. Research methods used are: survey, experimental, qualitative research methods. 

	• •	The effect of information security training and awareness for employees’ information security behavior. Research methods used are: experimental research methods. 

	• •	The implication of the different managerial tactics to reduce cyber loafing at work place. Research methods used are: survey, experimental.   

	• •	The influence of Information Technology (IT) incidents on users’ use of IT services. Research methods used are: survey, experimental, qualitative research methods. 
	•   
	• •	Models for Explaining Social Engineering. Research methods used are: experimental, survey and qualitative research methods. 

Requirements

The position is available for 3 years, after that the candidate is evaluated against tenure track criteria of the Oulu University. 

The research IS security research center has strong commitment to perform cutting edge research that is publishable in top Information Systems journals. Hence, the candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to perform research that is publishable in best Information Systems journals.

The annual salary is up to 60 000 Euro, based on the qualifications of the candidate. The salary is paid for 12 months in a year. Additionally, faculty members are entitled to health care benefits. 

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. degree. Those with ABD status, or Ph.D. students near completion, can also apply. In considering applicants for the position, emphasis will be placed on future potential to publish research in premier Information Systems journals.
